Rev Jan 2016 DallasHR PRESIDENT Position Summary: The President serves a one-year term and must have been elected to first serve as President-Elect. The President serves as a member of the Board of Trustees (“BOT”), the Executive Committee (“EC”) and as Chair of the DallasHR Board of Directors. The President provides leadership consistent with the organization’s Bylaws. The President also serves as a voting member of the SHRM Texas State Council (Texas SHRM). Reports To: The Board of Trustees of Dallas Human Resource Management Association, Inc. (“DHRMA”) Works closely with DHRMA Executive Director Responsibilities: Conducts the business of DallasHR (“Association”) in accordance with the Bylaws Serves as chairperson of the Association's Board of Directors Presides over the activities of all DallasHR directors, chairs and committees, to ensure the accomplishment of Association goals, objectives, and strategies Appropriate management of budgetary funds of Association Complete annual SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) and submit by deadline Oversees submission for the Chapter’s Pinnacle Award application, if applicable Chairs all DallasHR Board meetings and membership meetings Serves as the DallasHR official representative to Texas SHRM, operating within SHRM guidelines Active participation on HRConnect to engage members and share best practices and knowledge Communicates state, area and/or national goals, policies, and programs to Association members Plans and coordinates with local chapters SHRM Texas event held each October in conjunction with HRSWC Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the organization as a member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee Represents the Association in the human resources community Represents the Association to form strategic alliances with other organizations, including the area presidents group (three local SHRM affiliated chapters) Qualifications: Must be a member of SHRM and DallasHR Previously served a minimum of three years in a leadership position with the Corporation, with two of those years in DallasHR Has at least 7 years overall experience in the HR profession, HR education, or HR legal arena Professional certification is preferred (such as, PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SRHM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CCP, CEBS) Expectations: Adhere to DHRMA Bylaws and Code of Ethics Attendance at Board of Trustee meetings and Executive Committee meetings Attendance at Association meetings and events (monthly Board meetings, monthly membership meetings, special programs, social events, etc.) Attendance at two SHRM Texas Meetings, minimally at the TSC Leadership meeting. DallasHR PRESIDENT-ELECT Position Summary: The President-Elect is elected by the membership to serve a one-year term. The acceptance of this position is a commitment to also serve a one-year term as President. The President-Elect serves as a member of the Executive Committee and the Association Board of Directors. The President-Elect works closely with the President to learn how to operate the Association effectively and shall assist the President in overseeing all the activities of the Association consistent with the Bylaws. In the absence of the President, the President-Elect will perform all the Presidential responsibilities. Reports To: DallasHR President Works closely with DHRMA Executive Director Committees Reporting to President-Elect: SHRM Foundation Fundraiser Committee Responsibilities: • Acts as SHRM Foundation representative and conducts Association/SHRM Foundation fundraiser • Promotes the SHRM Foundation at Association meetings and/or in Association newsletter • Appropriate management of budgetary funds within areas of authority • Coordinates joint event (if applicable) with other local SHRM-affiliated chapters • Serves as chair for membership meetings when President is unavailable • Ensures all directors post monthly Board reports on HRConnect prior to Board meetings Maintains

Association Board of Directors and Chairs (if applicable) membership roster • Documents DallasHR Board meeting minutes to include financial decisions, activities, procedural changes

and approval requests for Executive Committee/Board of Trustees • Active participation on HRConnect to engage members and share best practices and knowledge • Completes other assignments as requested by the President or other corporate leadership • Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning • At year end, works with newly elected President-Elect, current Executive Committee and Staff to lead

succession planning for incoming leadership team • At year end and in conjunction with newly elected President-Elect, appoints incoming Association

leadership team of Directors and Chairs. Team must be approved by Board of Trustees. • Represents the Association in the human resources community • Represents the Association to form strategic alliances with other organizations Qualifications: • Must be a member of SHRM and DallasHR • Professional certification is preferred (such as, PHR, SPHR, GPHR, CCP, CEBS) • Previously served a minimum of two years in a leadership position with DHRMA, with one of those years in

DallasHR • Must have at least 6 years’ experience in the HR profession, HR education, or HR legal arena • Professional certification is preferred (such as, PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SRHM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CCP, CEBS)

DallasHR COMMUNITY RELATIONS DIRECTOR

Position Summary: The Community Relations Director is appointed to serve a one-year term. This position serves as a member of the DallasHR Board of Directors. This position oversees all community relations activities and the Community Relations Committee. Reports to: The President of DallasHR Works closely with DallasHR Staff Responsibilities: • Organizes a committee of volunteers (7 recommended) and conducts regularly scheduled committee

meetings • Review various organizations and determine the level of need and volunteer opportunities available for

DallasHR membership • Develops volunteer programs • Chair the Community Relations Committee to coordinate member volunteer efforts for each partner

organization • Appoints liaisons as necessary to support various approved charitable organizations and coordinate the

DallasHR DFW STAFFING MANAGEMENT ALLIANCE DIRECTOR

Position Summary: The DFW SMA Director is appointed to serve a one-year term. This position serves as a member of the DallasHR Board of Directors. The position oversees a team focused on the engagement of the staffing management community and the delivery of best practice resources specific to this member services area. Reports to: The President of DallasHR Work closely with the DallasHR Staff Responsibilities:

• Organize a committee of five (5 recommended) volunteers committed to the delivery of services to the staffing management membership and community. These volunteers will serve on this committee as well as participate on other DallasHR committees responsible for activity. (See assignment in parenthesis.)

• Design activities and communications focused on engaging the internal and external staffing management professionals as active participants in DallasHR (DallasHR Member Engagement Committee. See job description.)

• Produce 4/5 educational programs focused specifically on the member services area (DallasHR Programming Committee. See job description)

• Coordinate speaker selection process to include soliciting speaker ideas/topics, evaluating speaker proposals, conduct reference checks.

• Solicit topics of interest from staffing management community, research trends that impact the profession/professional

• Oversee the coordination and production of educational programs • Proactively engage the DFW SMA HRConnect community to share best practices and establish an

active dialogue of those members • Contribute articles for association newsletter and website • Research and recommend industry specific resources and best practice ideas to include on DFW

SMA web pages • Provide recommendations of business services and product organizations for potential

sponsorships • Prepare monthly report to the Board of Directors on committee plans/activities and post on

HRConnect board group • Represents DFW SMA to form strategic alliances with other organizations • Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for

DallasHR EMPLOYMENT LAW AND HR COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR/Co-DIRECTOR Position Summary: The Employment Law and HR Compliance Director(s) is appointed to serve a one-year term. This position serves as a member of the DallasHR Board of Directors. The Employment Law and HR Compliance Director(s) provides DallasHR membership with HR compliance and risk management information, requirements and best practices based on federal, state and local laws as well as potential and pending laws.

Reports To: The President of DallasHR - Works closely with DHRMA Education Manager

Responsibilities: • Organizes a committee of volunteers (5 recommended) and conducts regularly scheduled committee

meetings • Support Programming Committee in developing educational content for membership in the area of

employment law, HR compliance and risk management • Develops annual Legal Exchange Conference to include topics, speakers, and format. Recommends

luncheon speaker and topic to the Programming Committee for this event • Active participation on HRConnect to engage members by sharing best practices, legal and legislative

updates and other HR compliance knowledge • Monitors state and local government activities and provides timely information on public policy issues and

communicates to DallasHR members • Participates in SHRM’s volunteer leader webcasts in the area of Employment Law and HR Compliance • Promotes within the Association increased knowledge about legal and compliance issues impacting HR • Provides content for the DallasHR newsletter in the areas of employment law and HR compliance • Completes other assignments as requested by the President or other corporate leadership • Prepare monthly report to the Board of Directors on committee plans/activities and posts on HRConnect

DallasHR MEMBER ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR/Co-DIRECTOR Position Summary: The Member Engagement Director(s) is appointed to serve a one-year term. This position serves as a member of the DallasHR Board of Directors. The Member Engagement Director(s) will assure the activities and initiatives of the chapter are focused on engaging and retaining chapter members in partnership with the Member and Attendee Relations Manager (MARM). Reports To: The President of DallasHR Works closely with DallasHR Staff Responsibilities: Organizes a committee of volunteers (8 recommended) and conducts regularly scheduled committee meetings Member Relations • Identifies and pursues sources for new members to include any special projects, promotions or programs

designed to increase membership numbers • Identifies and pursues resources, programs, processes to retain members • Identifies possible programs and/or partnerships that will benefit DallasHR members • Identifies value proposition for recruitment and retention

• On-going member needs assessment (weekly phone calls, emails or face-to-face interaction with members) Ambassadors • Solicit, train and facilitate communication between volunteers to serve as goodwill representatives and

table hosts to welcome new members at scheduled monthly meetings • Ensure that a committee member will be present at the Monthly Meeting to welcome registered guests at

the name badge table

New Member Orientation - “Maximize your Membership” • Obtain list of new members each month from Staff • Ensure each new member is contacted by a committee member and invited to quarterly ”maximize your

New Member Referral Program • Notify new member referral drawing winner that they were the winner and will be recognized at the

Member Events • Plans prospective member events in conjunction with committee members and Staff • Identifies social and networking events and/or partnerships that will benefit DallasHR members and attract

potential new members • Attends networking events and pro-actively engages attendees

DallasHR PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR/Co-DIRECTOR

Position Summary: The Programming Director(s) is appointed to serve a one-year term and serves as a member of the DallasHR Board of Directors. This position is responsible for planning programs, workshops, seminars, and other events.

Reports to: The President of DallasHR - Works closely with the DallasHR Staff

Chairs Reporting to Programming Director (as needed and subject to change) Educational Seminars, Monthly Meeting Programs, Special Programs, Webinar, Legal Breakfast Series, Study Groups, Executive Breakfasts, Around Town Events

Responsibilities of Directors: • Organizes a committee of volunteers (6 recommended) and conduct regularly scheduled committee

meetings. May appoint chairs from this committee to focus on specific programs. • Work closely with Staff and Board to deliver programming aligned with corporate strategic mission to

enhance the knowledge of the HR professional • Coordinate speaker selection process to include soliciting potential speaker ideas/topics, evaluating speaker

proposals, conduct reference checks • Solicits topics of interest from membership, DallasHR Board members, other chapters, and/or research

trends that affect the human resources profession • Lead the selection process of topics/speakers for educational events and relevant programs on topics of

interest • Ensures contact of potential speakers, reference checks, topic ideas for committee consideration • Writes or commissions articles for association newsletters and website describing the programs • Report evaluation results for all programming to the DallasHR Board of Directors • Ensure that DallasHR educational programs are providing value to our members through analysis of

member surveys, attendee evaluations, feedback, trends, demographics, etc. • Active participation on HRConnect to engage members by sharing best practices and knowledge • Prepare monthly report to the Board of Directors on committee plans/activities and post on HRConnect • Appoints chairs as necessary, with President’s final approval • Supports the activities of chairs and committee members • Completes other assignments as requested by the President or other corporate leadership • Represents the association in the human resources community

DallasHR ROUND TABLES DIRECTOR/Co-DIRECTOR

Position Summary: The Round Table (formerly Professional Emphasis Groups) Director(s) is appointed to serve a one-year term. This position serves as a member of the DallasHR Board of Directors. This position oversees all Round Table groups. Round Tables are designed to provide an avenue for connection, learning and collaboration in specialized areas of practice and interest within the DallasHR membership. DallasHR membership is required to participate in these meetings. Members, who have a bona fide interest in the practice area or industry represented by the PEG and would like to build a professional network, advance their HR knowledge and communicate information, are encouraged to participate. Reports to: The President of DallasHR Works closely with DallasHR Staff Responsibilities: • Identify Leaders for each Round Table area (Groups subject to change based upon interest level and

qualified leaders) Round Table Leaders: Schedule and facilitate round table sessions for DallasHR members interested in specific topic/industry If interested in offering a certified program for all membership, coordinate with Education Manager for

details (see specific requirements for eligibility) Facilitate Round Table group communications through HRConnect Round Table community Coordinate meeting schedule and audio/visual needs with DallasHR staff for corporate calendar,

community page on website, web calendar of events Maintain roster and attendance records and provide information to staff liaison Ensure participants are DallasHR members

• Organizes new Round Tables as appropriate in response to DallasHR member interest – obtaining Leaders and helping promote the meetings to attract participants

• Supports leaders to plan and publicize events, as appropriate • Prepare monthly report to the Board of Directors on committee plans/activities and post on HRConnect
