The Courier continued on page 10 ..... Ready to Vote in Idaho Primary Next Tuesday, starting at 8:00 a.m., your local polling locations will be open for vot- ing in Idaho’s Primary Election, and there are contested races on the Republican ticket in Camas, Gooding and Lincoln counties. In Camas County two candidates are run- ning for District 2 County Commissioner, the seat currently held by Ron Chapman. Marshall Ralph spent 11 years on the County Planning & Zoning Commis- sion, four of those years as the chairman. He carries a great deal of knowledge of the county’s planning documents and he desires to put that knowledge to work. His goal is to be a thinking man’s politician and do his best for the citizens of Camas County. Monte Cangiamilla, a Marine Veteran, has been working for High Country Fu- sion for over ten years. During that time he was also the Fire Chief for Fairfield’s Volunteer Fire Department. at experi- ence has given him a wealth of people skills. His biggest desire, however, is to give back to the community he calls his home and do what he can to keep it great. In Gooding County there are two races voters will have to decide - District 3 Com- missioner and the Prosecuting Attorney. Four years ago, Terrell Williams lost a low voter turn-out election to Wayne Chandler for Gooding County Commissioner. She hopes more people will get involved in this year’s election. Mrs. Williams spent 30 years writing for the Times News, Camas Lilies are in Bloom Camas Lily (Camassia quamash) In June of 1806, Captain Meriwether Lewis described a plant found on the Quamash flats at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. During the Corps of Discovery Expedition Lewis and Clark came across many plants they had never seen before, but something about the vast fields of purple flowers intrigued Lewis so much that he spent more time writing about this plant than any other in his collection. From now through the end of May, take a trip to the Camas Prairie and the Centennial Marsh, and discover this amazing plant for yourself. School Ballot Measures Along with the State and county races, three area schools are asking voters to approve requests for supple- mental levies and one bond in Tuesday’s Election. Dietrich School District No. 314 is asking its voters to authorized $2.5 million bond to build an elementa- ry school. e term of this bond would be 20 years to be paid in installments. e Richfield School Dis- trict No. 316 is asking for a supplemental levy in the amount of $225,000 per year for two years. e pur- pose of this levy is to pay for the expenses of maintaining and operating the school. Wendell School District No. 232 is also asking for a supplemental levy. ey are asking for $600,000 per year for two years to pay the ex- penses of maintaining and operating the schools in the District.
