The Courier Last week the Airmen of the Idaho Air National Guard’s 124th Fighter Wing held a ceremony in Boise to dedicate an A-10C underbolt II aircraft to the tribes of Idaho. Historically, combat fly- ing squadrons used nose art (creative dedications to specific people, places, or concepts) to personalize combat aircraft and boost unit morale. Artwork was in high demand during World War II, and extravagant creations highlighted unit pride and cohesion. In this tradition, the Unit- ed States Air Force allows specialized artwork for air- craft that is distinctive and symbolic to enhance unit morale. “e Idaho Air National Guard values its relation- ship with the tribes of Ida- ho,” said Maj. Gen. Gary Sayler, commanding gen- eral of the Idaho National Guard. “ey’re a key part of our community and we want to acknowledge their longstanding support.” Eventually, the 124th Fighter Wing will dedi- cated each of the Idaho Air National Guard fighter jets assigned to Gowen Field. is Idaho ANG commu- nity recognition program ac- knowledges the support and sacrifices communities and citizens make to defend free- dom at home and abroad. More than 1,300 Air Na- tional Guardsmen from across Idaho support the mission of the A-10C through either full-time or part-time participation in military readiness train- ing. ey support both the federal combat mission of the 124th Fighter Wing and the state of Idaho’s military mission as directed by the governor and led by the ad- jutant general. Staggered Food Stamps Households receiving Supplemental Nutrition As- sistance Program (SNAP) benefits, also known as Food Stamps, will see a change when their monthly benefits become available on the SNAP benefit card, also called an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. Currently, all SNAP recipients get benefits on the 1st of the month. Un- der Staggered Issuance, the day that households get their benefits will be spread out over the first 10 days of the month. Starting July 1, 2016, current SNAP cardholders will receive SNAP benefits according to their assigned issuance date, which is based on the last digit of the cardholder’s birth year. is means that most SNAP households will no longer receive their benefits on the 1st of the month.
