[email protected] Summer Fair We hope you all enjoyed the summer fair as much as we did. The weather was fantastic and it was lovely to see everyone having so much fun. We’re delighted to have raised just over £4000!!! We are incredibly grateful for all the support from the whole school community in helping to make it such an amazing event. We will be spending the funds raised on a shade sail for the top playground. Burbage School PTFA NEWSLETTER JULY 2019 We wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who volunteered setting up, on a stall and clearing up afterwards. There was a wonderful sense of community and people coming together to support the school. Given the number of stalls, we required approximately 100 people to cover everything for the duration of the fair, which you helped us do! We feel really grateful to have the support of so many people, we really couldn’t do it without you. We also wanted to say thank you to the regular volunteers and committee members who spent months planning the fair including arranging the rota, sorting floats, asking for raffle prizes, organising the inflatables, making “props” for pocket money stalls, smiling at baby photos(!),advertising the fair with beautifully drawn chalk board signs, labelling tombola and folding hundreds and hundreds of tickets, it was a fantastic team effort. Several stalls at the fair including the BBQ, tombola’s, “jolly jars” and raffle would not be possible without the generous donations of parents and carers and local and national businesses. Your generosity on both non- uniform days was amazing, we’ve never seen so much chocolate!! Finally thank you to Buxton Fire station for bringing the fire engine and Andrea & Dave for the fantastic bubbles, we loved them. GETTING IN TOUCH We have occasionally still had emails to the old PTA Hotmail account, we changed to the new school email address earlier in the year and would be grateful if you would only contact us via the new email: [email protected] As of September we will no longer be checking the old account and would not want to miss any messages. Thank you.

NEWSLETTER JULY 2019

We wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who volunteered setting up, on a stall and clearing up afterwards. There was a wonderful sense of community and people coming together to support the school. Given the number of stalls, we required approximately 100 people to cover everything for the duration of the fair, which you helped us do! Daily mile freestyle This was a new idea which the children seemed to really embrace and enjoy. It was fantastic to see the many and varied ways they chose to "freestyle" the mile. There were tennis players, a snorkeler, two and three legged races, Spiderman, a human Venn diagram, cartwheels, chicken impressions and many more. The challenge was to make us smile and they certainly did. The sponsorship money raised was incredible and we are grateful to everyone who contributed. The final total was a staggering £1224.27 and will be put towards the purchase of benches for the top playground.

Other funds raised: Roberts recycling, thank you to everyone who had a clear out and brought in bags for the collection. We raised a total of £151

Thank you to Hazel for organising the nearly new sale, which raised £102.45

Easyfundraising this quarter raised £33.56, if you’ve not yet signed up, please see the PTFA page on the school website for more information.

PTFA expenditure: We have bought new bean bags for the top playground and it has been great to see these being used now the weather has improved. We have ordered benches as part of the continued development of the top playground area. These are recycled plastic benches (like the existing buddy benches) which require no maintenance and are weatherproof and reduce waste that would otherwise end up in landfill. We will share photos when these arrive, for the new school year.

Year 3/4 used their £10 PTFA contribution towards their visit to Chester Zoo.

Dates for your diary

• We will be holding a stationary sale for the children on Friday 6th September during the school day • Our AGM will be 17th September at 6pm at school. We hope that this will help us to plan the coming year

JOIN THE COMMITTEE In September, Olivia Johnson our secretary will step down. We are really grateful to Olivia for her
