VOLUME 18 ISSUE 8

It’s hard to believe I’m sitting here typing up a newsletter article for

August… AUGUST. School starts this month (I know, I know, don’t remind

you). My son turns one year old this month. It seriously seems like I was just

anxiously waiting for his arrival and now I’ve blinked and he’s turning one.

Such is the way of things. Time passes all too quickly, and it seems like that

becomes more and more true the older I get. But I digress. As quickly as time

seems to pass, I find myself with whole list of things that I “keep meaning to

do” but never seem to have enough time for. “I meant to” send out that thank

you card. I meant to get over to visit my grandpa. I meant to get all of my

laundry put away. And there’s certainly more. Now, your list of “I meant

to’s” might look different than mine. But we all have them. “I meant to call

my friend,” “I meant to make it to church on Sunday.” J (Just to be clear, I’d

probably be saying that one myself sometimes if it wasn’t my job).

Here’s the thing: if something matters, we need to make time. Part of

our Christian call is stewardship, and while we have a tendency to think of

Stewardship as just a money thing, stewardship is really about balance. Being

good stewards means making good use of everything in our lives, including

time. This is true of our work, of our rest, of our families, and it is very true of

our faith. Making time for God in our lives is so important. Making time to

live out our Christian call to love God and love one another is so important.

We are the hands of God in this world, and in our broken world, there are

needs that can’t wait until we have the time. Faith isn’t something that can be

pushed into the category of something we “meant to” do. It is every moment

of every day of our lives.

May the peace of Christ, which

passes all understanding, guide your

hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Blessings,

Pastor Karen

Summer is here (for the kids anyway!) now that school is out. This time of year, families struggle to keep food in their homes while the kids are home all day! Any help you can offer to provide healthy and easily accessible food for the kids to eat would be wonder-ful. We wouldn’t be able to feed these families without the help from our church community.

John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever

comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst”

Yes, I'm a Senior Citizen!

I’m the life of the party…

even if it lasts until 8 p.m.

I’m very good at opening childproof caps…

with a hammer.

I’m awake many hours before

my body allows me to get up.

I’m smiling all the time because

I can’t hear a thing you’re saying.

I’m sure everything I can’t find is in a

safe secure place, somewhere.

I’m wrinkled, saggy, lumpy,

and that just my left leg.

I’m beginning to realize that

aging is not for wimps.

Yes, I’m a senior citizen and

I think I am having the time of my life!
