• Subordinator: used at the start or middle of a sentence, used to form complex sentences

• Conjunctive adverb: used at the start or middle of a sentence, can make compound sentences.

3. Writing techniques

1. Transition signals

• A FEW TIPS: • Don’t start a sentence with a coordinator.

• Don’t start a sentence with THEN use After, Afterward

• Transition phrases are often prepositional phrases: in contrast, to compare…, in addition, etc.
