DESCRIPTION

In order to make the transmedia project Chasing Bonnie & Clyde (long length feature documentary + interactive concept that embarks you on the tracks of the famous outlaws to explore the programs of rehabilitation for criminals that Texas recently created), we visited the capital of Texas four times in less than a year. So we thought we should share our memories and our favourite spots to hang out, drink, eat and enjoy.

We DON’T REALLY know if Bonnie and Clyde stopped in Aus-tin in the 30s. But we visited the place 4 times the last 10 months to create this transmedia project.

Chasing Bonnie & Clyde (doco + interactive) embarks you on the tracks of the famous outlaws to explore the programs of rehabilitation for criminals that Texas recently created.

Told and sung by Black Yaya – leader of folk band Herman Dune that was often cheered during SXSW past editions – the project is planned for late 2014.

We thought, let’s give our French frogs advices about the capital of Texas as we fall deeply in love with it.

Cheers. Olivier (big hair) & Thomas (big arms)

CENOTE Sometimes you don’t really know where you’re heading. But you can feel it: it’s gonna be alright.

Our first time in Austin we slept on Willow Street, east of the IH35. Since then we always choose this right side of the city. This area is becoming the PLACE to be in Austin.

Start the day as a conqueror by tasting the ni-cest fair trade coffees at Cenote on East Cesar Chavez Street.

BARTON SPRINGS POOL That’s the only thing we didn’t try but we expect you not miss it – when we went there temperatures were around 30 Fahrenheit degrees (-1 celsius degree).

Austin has several natural pools that are almost always wet and accessible. En-joy them to cool off and revitalize your body. Barton Springs is our favorite as this big hole of clear water is surrounded by beautiful trees. Pus the water is almost always 68 Fehrenheit degrees (20 celsius degrees).

THE MOONSHINE Okay, it might not be the best in the US but seriously... grab a Big Red’s BLT with Apple smoked bacon and an extra of avocado for 12.95$... Quel délice !

Be prepared to wait in front of the 303 Red River St. during a while as the place is often full. Ask for a table on the front terrasse or even better in the patio at the back and enjoy the pre-meal popcorn.

It’s our HQ for lunch to recharge our body-bat-teries.

THE TEXAS STATE CAPITOL No Frank Underwood here but a great opportunity to take a free tour in the ol-dest state office building in Texas – it was constructed from 1882 to 1888.

Sit in the rotunda, watch people walking by, wander around and try to meet Repre-sentatives if they’re not in session.

You can even have a glimpse of what it feels like to be in the Chamber with tour, guided or not, available in Chinese, French, Ger-man, Japanese, Italian, Russian, Korean and Spanish.

THE LIZ CARPENTER FOUNTAIN Thanks to photographers web-sites, we found the best spots in town to shoot a sunset.

We wanted this scene for our docu-mentary and we found the Butler Park  ! Last january it was freezing but the place is really enjoyable.

Colourful and tricky, the fountain must be the place to be in summer. Have a walk around and forget about your city life.

JUSTINe’s Don’t expect to spend a normal eve-ning at Justine’s. Once you met Pierre, the French owner, everything is different.

It’s a bit further East, far from the troubles of the city... that’s the main reaso why Pierre choose this spot: he wants people to know that anything can happen there. Cocktails, dinners but also parties. You’ll meet starlettes, vegan gurus and famous directors.

That’s where the magic happen and that’s why we like it !

WEST AND EAST 6TH STREET That’s what you’re craving for when you arrive in Austin. The walkable crazy musical nightlife.

We did thousands of round trips on the 6th St. One of our best memory is in a club that is no longer opened. We were walking back to our place on East Cesar Chavez and were caught by the sound of guitars and drums.

Unlike Ulysse we agreed to give up our bodies and souls to these melo-dic mermaids. It was the best band we ever listened to.

THE EASY TIGER We found it as you should find it: walk back to your place toward the IH 35 ; after Sabine St. have a look on the right side over the low wall and discover the Waller Creek ; take a right, go down the stairs on the left.

Easy Tiger is a bake shop and a beer gar-den. You should enjoy both. Chill in the backyard near the water, enjoy a bretzel with cheese, grab a beer and play ping-pong.
