What do the critics say?

• His theory is too focused on infancy and childhood and doesn’t talk much about adulthood.

• He doesn’t account for the adults that “rediscover” themselves

• His theory is more applied to boys than girls.

Value to Practitioners

• Many use his theory as a framework for understanding how personality and behavior can be developed from instances in the past that have not yet been resolved.
