Maladaption
Too Much Of A Good Thing
Mal adaptation: too much positve and not enough negative aspects: Possibly, because of overexposure to the positive. In Stage 8 the elderly can go through a maladaptive stage, from which they suffer from an effect on their personality; Presumption. Presumption: • Believe that their life is great• Never Face difficulties of old age
Despair
• Biological Uselessness• Women: Dramatic Menopause• Men: cannot "rise to the occasion"• Sickness: Flue, Fever, Falling Down• Concerns with death; loss of those around
them Too Much of a Bad Thing isn't Good Either....
Malignancy The Bad and The Ugly
Malignancy: Too little positvie aspects, negative aspects effect actions in life In Stage 8 the elderly can gain a sense of Disdain if they have a malignancy. Disdain: Lose interest in life, become depressed, spiteful, and paranoid.
VirtueWhen Everything Goes Just Right
Wisdom (Virtue)
• Approach Death Without Fear• Gifted Enough Not to Fear Death• See's every situation logically and finds a right
solution• Gentle Approach to life and death
Wisdom: common sense; good judgment
