BRIEF HISTORY OF RIVERS OF JOY

Sometime in 1992 Bro.Quentin King and Mildred made

a decision to come back to Ohio. They decided to start a

church in Minford and a group of people from various

churches helped them start the Rivers of Joy. In January

1993 they had their first members. Today Jimmy and

Lois Grant and Janet Ramey are the remaining chartered

members. Bro King remained pastor until 2001,

followed by Kelly Cinereski from in 2001-2006. Bro.

King died in 2004. In July of 2008 Bob Temple and

Charles e Whisnant came to assist the church and

Charles was called as Pastor. Bill Bower became an

Assoc Pastor in 2008. Johnny Edwards has been the

pianist and singer now since 2007.

We are grateful for those who have gone before us. The

property and the buildings are all paid for. Some have

been saved, and missionaries have been supported.

Following Bro. King’s death and Mike leaving, the

church experienced some self destruction. Nevertheless

the providence of the Lord has allowed the church to

continue. Since July 2008 a new beginning in the life of

Rivers of Joy began, and the fellowship of faithful

members continues to rebuild the ministry.

Today Rivers of Joy Baptist will give Bob and Saundra

Temple our prayers and support as they return to Texas.

Both Bob and Saundra will be missed in our fellowship.

We have enjoyed them both these last several months. Bob

took on the remodeling of the ladies restroom. He had a great

crew of helpers. John Robinson was chief builder, Rob

Temple III, Jason Christian and Bill Ramey spent a lot of

hours over the last month in this project. A complete new

room was built for the ladies. The finishing touches of

gospel translates into a Christian life of joy,

peace, freedom, and love. So the gospel also

gives us a new way to live and relate to

other people. It frees us from sin’s

stranglehold on our lives, liberates our

conscience, and releases us from living

according to the principles of this world.
