Muncipality

A municipality is usually an urban administrative division having corporate status and usually powers of self-government or jurisdiction. The term municipality is also used to mean the governing body of a municipality. A municipality is a general-purpose administrative subdivision, as opposed to a special-purpose district. The term is derived from French "municipalité" and Latin "municipalis".

A municipal corporation is the legal term for a local governing body, including (but not necessarily limited to) cities, counties, towns, townships, charter townships, villages, and boroughs.

Municipal incorporation occurs when such municipalities become self-governing entities under the laws of the state or province in which they are located. Often, this event is marked by the award or declaration of a municipal charter.

Muncipality or private initiatives welcome Things are changed now and so the people and rules.Even the muncipal

coporation that it cant meet all expectation. With the rise in population garbages are increased ernomously. The water and power needs of the people have also gone up.The commissioners of many muncipalities, throughout the country, now hire private contractors to get the garbage collected and processed .The nature of this kind of hiring of private contractors is called subcontracting. The same work was earlier being done by government employees but, now, since the the work load has increased.,it has become necessery to hire the services of private companies. The workers employed by them are either on daily wages or on lesser payment.

Surat Plague 1994 In 1994, a pneumonic

plague epidemic broke out in India. It was particularly widespread in Surat, Gujarat, where it resulted in 52 deaths and in a large internal migration of about a quarter of the city's 1.5 million, who fled fearing quarantine. A combination of heavy monsoon rain and clogged sewers led to massive flooding which resulted in unhygienic conditions and a number of uncleared animal carcasses. It is believed that this situation precipitated the epidemic.  There was widespread fear that the flood of refugees might spread the epidemic to other parts of India and the world, but that scenario was averted, probably as a result of effective public health response mounted by the Indian health authorities.
