Film 1Name: Shaun of the dead

Sub-genre:Zombie/

Comedy

Shaun of the dead was a very well edited and well put together film as it used very good lighting for the situations that they were in and where they

were. Also mise-en-scene is displayed well throughout the film as the costumes of the zombies are very realistic along with the make up used on the actors playing as the zombies. the use of both

diegetic and non-diegetic sound is also used throughout the film making it quite comical in

certain parts of the film and this fits in to make the

film and zombie/comedy film.

Film 2Name:Insidious

Sub-genre: Supernatural/Haunted

After watching insidious i noticed a wide variety of techniques used to create the film. Firstly lighting was a key part of the film and was used to connote fear into the characters in the film, for

example when the characters were in the house at night the lighting was played around with enormously to put fear in to the

family living there. Finally the use of make up was extremely effective making all the supernatural and paranormal characters

look extremely realistic, making it a very effective film.

Film 3Name:The women in black 2 the angel of death

Sub-genre:Ghost/Paranormal

The women in black 2 was a great sequel to the first women in black as it continued the story and editing techniques as used in

the first one and the lighting was again controlled throughout. The sound used was a mixture of diegetic and non-diegetic to put fear into the audience and make certain parts of the film seem more

realistic giving a impact on the viewers of the film. Mise-en-scene was also well displayed throughout the film as the women in black was made to look dead and displaced around the set. furthermore

the costumes worn by the other actors are made to make them look from the victorian era making it look like it happened well over

Film 4Name:The PurgeSub-genre:KillerOnce i watched The Purge i noticed a variety of

camera shots and lighting techniques. firstly there were a lot of high angle shots to show everything

going on in the scene and to help you see the area more clearly, there is also a lot of point of view shots to show the fear in the eyes of the

characters as they have no idea what is round the corner this makes the film successful in the way it scares the audience. The lighting techniques used

gave the film a sense of realism due to power cutting out make the house go into complete

black out along with lights going on and off really made the film more interesting as you couldn't really predict what was going to happen next.

Film 5Name: Dead snow

Sub-genre: Zombie/RomanceAfter watching dead snow i realised that

there is a lot of Mise-en-scene used along with editing to connote the fear of the characters as everyone around them is

being slaughtered by the zombies. Mise-en-scene is displayed extremely well

throughout as the zombies show this as of the use of there costumes and make up is made to look extremely realistic making it

a really enjoyable but scary film as it immerses the audience as they are made

to believe it is a true story. Also the editing is done to a very high standard as

cross cutting is consistently used to capture both the look of fear in the main characters faces along with the anger in

the zombies faces.
