PROJECT DESIGN SOLUTIONSAIRPORTS

The experience that comes from an air-port can leave a lasting impression onthe passengers about the airline, city, oreven the country being visited. For thisreason, airports are taking more con-sideration into the design, aesthetics, and comfort of their buildings for thepassengers that visit their terminals.

The Kansas City International Airportis an airport that wanted to make their

terminals as appealing and functionalas they underwent some required reno-vations. The airport had to undergoabsestos abatement throughout theairport’s terminals to make the entireairport safer for the passengers and em-ployees. After the removal of the asbes-tos, Beige K-13 was to be installed foracoustical and thermal insulation dueto its fast-track installation capabilitiesand superior acoustic and thermal per-formance.

The application process was to takeplace while the airport continued tooperate in a normal capacity. Such afeat would be next to impossible withmany insulation materials. K-13, on theother hand is non-toxic and can be ap-plied in a short period of time. The

Beige K-13 was applied to the KansasCity International Airport without anyinterruption to the airport’s daily activi-ties and more importantly without en-dangering the safety and health of themany passengers and employees thatutilized the airport during its renova-tion process.

Passenger terminals, baggage claim ar-eas, gyms, schools and restaurants arejust a few of the many types of projectsthat benefit from K-13 products.
