Thank you to the Circle City Rotary, Heart of Lala Rainbow and Hemborg Ford for donating Turkey and dinners to our families at the Y. Because of the generous donations, our families enjoyed
their Thanksgiving Dinners.

Theme : Dinosaurs
After having fun all last week working on fall and Thanksgiving
activities, this week we will learn about Dinosaurs. We will be
studying how dinosaurs became extinct; how many types of dinosaurs; how many years they
lived; and which ones were meat eaters and which ones were herbivores. In addition to the research, children will make paper maché dinosaurs, Dinosaur bone X-rays, and salt dough
fossils. We will read the story “The Last Dinosaur”. Children will listen to the story, retell the story, and then write and draw their own story.
City Park Happy Holidays from City Park. We hope everyone had a nice holiday with their
families. Last week we finished up our unit on buildings. This week we will be starting
our investigation of clothing. We will be looking at different types of clothing and
fabrics.
A reminder to parents that the Gift Mart will be on Saturday, December 5, 2015. You will be
receiving your ticket on Monday, November 30, 2015. Do not lose your ticket, you will not
receive another one.
State full time preschool - This month we will be studying, “Children
around the World.” Our focus will be on Canada and Alaska, and the way
they live and dress in the colder regions. Our theme for the week is
“clothing” and we will look at pictures and storybooks to learn what people
wear in Alaska and Canada. Our activities will include making a vest, ribbon
skirts and more.
Home Gardens Theme: Winter
P A G E 4
Part Time Preschool - Last week our first five classes continued working on fall themed activities. The
children had the opportunity to learn about clothing that we wear during the fall season. Children were
also introduced to pilgrims by stories such as, “The First Thanksgiving”. Since we are an “all about
family care center” we sent home a family project for the children and their parents to decorate. This
gave them an opportunity to explore their homes in search of three dimensional items to decorate a
thankful turkey. In class the children had the opportunity to share by dictation and drawings, pictures
things that they are thankful for. They also brought back their projects and presented them to their
peers. From the joyous looks on the children’s faces, you could tell they enjoyed sharing their projects!
This week our children will enjoy working on crafts related to the harvest holiday. We will be showing
“Charlie Browns First Thanksgiving” on Wednesday! Coming up next week…our children will be
introduced to the “clothing” theme and what kind of clothes children wear from around the world?!? Let’s
find out!
SCHOOL AGE - School age is saying goodbye to fall and hello to the winter holiday season. We are
going to discuss the start of the holiday season by writing out their wish list, cutting out a collage of toys
and goodies, and writing down their holiday traditions. We have been doing well with the canned food
drive, but still need more donations to get to our goal; we CAN do it!! And a BIG thank you again, to
those who have already donated cans.

Winter can make people excited for snow, cool crisp weather, blue grey skies
and the upcoming holidays.
Students will write or draw a poem about their feelings of winter.
K-6 will learn the meaning of winter. They will learn how to spell new words like: sunny, clouds, cloudy,
foggy, humid, thermometer and temperature. Students will pick one of the news words they have learned
to write a story and share it with the class. Students will make a thermometer and test them indoors and
outdoors to learn more about weather. They will make a temperature chart and create a weather picture
of clouds, rain, snow an fog.
Continuing programs: Homework help, dance class, reading, math, outside/inside fun. Make temperature
chart, make clouds, rain, sunny, and foggy weather picture.

Unified School Districts ages 6 weeks to high school. We are always looking for support from our
community. If you would like more information of how you can help, please contact Lorena Gomez

Toddlers - For the week of November 30 to December 4, 2015 the toddler
classroom will be working on a theme about articles of clothing. We plan to
incorporate fine motor skills through practicing zipping and buttoning
Merrill
In the upcoming week, we will be focusing on the questions “how do we make and keep friends?” as
well as “how can we be part of a group?” This will be a fun week as we play games such as duck, duck,
goose and hot potato to build our students together as a team physically. We will revisit the classic
book “The Gingerbread Man” to talk about what happens when we are not so nice to others. This
upcoming week is full of discovery as we step into the month of December.
This week, our students enjoyed learning about who works at our school.
They made art that resembles the people that work at the school. Our
classes also had dress up day where the children got to wear their pajamas
to school. Our students are growing so much socially, emotionally, and
cognitively.
articles of clothing as well as through dress up materials supplied in the home living centers. Some of the
other activities we plan to include also consist of a sticker art, clothes themed collages, and a shirt
decoration activity.
Preschool 1 – This week our preschool classroom will be learning about the features of clothes. We will
read the book for “We got the Button and the Mitten”. We will also create a clothing size collage using
different fabric. We will play matching and playing matching games using fabric.
Preschool 2 – This week we will be studying trees. Children will explore the trees outside. We will
describe them and draw a picture. On Friday we will be painting with leaves
Preschool 3 - This week we will be discovering recycling and how we can use that in our classroom and
our community.

culture, with arts and crafts that follow. All community teens (ages 10 and up) are invited to the Anime
Club, every Tuesday at 4:00pm!
P A G E 7 Citrus Circle Hello from Citrus Circle! Last week we had a short week and the kids did not have
school so we played board games, made decorations for our potluck and worked on
puzzles. On Wednesday we had a family potluck at our center and the parents came
to join us. Everyone had a lot of fun. This week we are back to our normal schedule.
We will continue to assist children with their homework and provide activities for
them to learn and have fun. Parents please make sure to continue to check your
child’s homework when they get home.
Homework help Monday- Friday from 2:00-6:00pm
Tutoring Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s from 3:30-4:30 pm

accessories. They will also be making Thankful trees. To end our fun week
we will have a small thanksgiving potluck and much more… I hope everyone
had a nice Thanksgiving Holiday welcome back!! Next week the Teens will be
having a good time making many fun crafts and activities like Corn starch
experiment, making their own snow globe, and popsicle stick snow flake.
