Harada
Theme: Five senses
Last week children from Harada enjoyed learning the origin and
traditions of Halloween, they had a lot of fun making experiment and
different activities. This week they will learn about the five Senses, teachers will research all
about the five senses and will give all information to the children. It will be very interesting for the children to learn scientifically the diagram of each sense and their operations, their ability to
respond to any specific reaction following the brain signals. Children will play telephone games for hearing, playing musical instruments game, making play dough, making a paper Mache human body, and on Friday we will make vegetable soup.
City Park Happy Fall from City Park. Did everyone remember to set their clocks back on
Saturday night? Last week our classes talked about trees. They did a variety of activities involving trees and tree parts. Ms. Marisa’s and Ms. Marias class
also did a great activity to develop fine motor skill. The children wrapped up blocks like presents. The children had lots of fun doing this activity. They are
getting practice to help you wrap those holiday gifts. Ms. Bousha’s class made a variety of trees
with different materials. On Friday, we had a Harvest Celebration. Look for pictures in our next issue. In the month of November, our unit of study will be Buildings. The children will be looking
at different buildings and looking at how they are made. The children will be looking at the buildings around us and make buildings out of the blocks.
Full time state preschool - This week we will be finishing with the Book
Carnival Parade on Friday. Next week, we will be learning of the letter
H-M-F. We will be talking about fall and exploring the changes that happen
during this time, collecting all kind of leaves around the playground. On

P A G E 3
Children will bring their favorite book to share with the class. They will discuss
who, what, where and how things happens from the story. They will write and
draw things they saw and heard from the story. The younger children will
dictate their reasons for choosing particular moments in the book. The older
children will choose the correct definition for unknown words. Veterans Day is the day we honor men
and women that fought for our country. Children will write a letter thanking them for serving our
country. We are continually working on sharing, caring, loving, honesty, trusting one another. Home
work, site words, numbers, counting, writing first names upper/lower case. “CAT” performance on
Monday and Wednesday
we will be having a cooking activity with all the fruit and vegetables that are popular during this time of
the year.
School Age - This week in school age, we will be celebrating the day of the dead holiday with crafts,
paintings and mask making. We will study the holiday and discuss how it came about to be a calendar
holiday. We will be focusing on language and literacy with writings on the day of the dead, and making
our own short stories/poems. We will also be including sounds of the season, and studying different
sounds and senses that the fall may bring.
Part time Preschool - Our classes concluded our construction theme with phenomenal work from our
parents and children at home. Our children got the opportunity to present their construction projects
with their peers; giving our children the opportunity to build their speaking skills and to lose their stage
fright. We definitely enjoyed seeing how our parents and children worked together to build amazing:
houses, castles, parking lots, buildings and so much more! We are looking forward to an amazing
November this upcoming week! Our theme for the month will be “Fall” our children be introduced to
harvest foods, holidays and much that happens in the fall season. Our children will similarly, have the
opportunity to mix colors, use different mediums to create fall sceneries, crafts and so much more using

Merrill This week at Merrill we started a new creative curriculum: Beginning
the Year. All of our classes took a deeper look at the question, what names do we need to know at school? We read the book A Pocket for
Corduroy which our students fell in love with this silly little bear. We talked about recognizing our names and the names of who works at
Merrill such as teacher, teacher aides, and site supervisor. We also carved pumpkins, talked
about harvest, and dressed like minions.
This next week we will be investigating the question: what should we do if we get sad or scared at school? We will be exploring what makes us sad, happy, or scared in our daily lives. We will read The Kissing Hand to talk about how missing someone can be tough for anyone.
Merrill is going to be shifting into the new month of November as well as the daylight saving time.
Preschool 1 - This we will continue our study of balls with a focus on what materials can make
up balls. We will read “The Doorbell Rang”, “A Birthday Basket for Tia”, and “Have a Ball”. For art, we will be working on ball creations using newspaper, towels, glue, water and balloons. To
practice our fine motor skills, we will be cutting out circles, counting and sorting grapes, decorate the letter I, and practicing lacing shapes. For nutrition, we will make grape Jell-O cups.
Preschool 2 – Fall will be our focus this week. We will discuss the change in the weather. Also
we will discuss how the season changes and the leaves fall. Preschool 3 - This week we will be talking about our family tree and gather what most like
about our families. Also we will discuss how are families spend time together
