What is the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT)?

The World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) is the internationalorganisation representing over 380,000 occupational therapists worldwide.

With over 100,000 occupational therapy students and 50,000 occupational

therapy assistants, the number of people involved in the profession is in excess

of a half a million.

WFOT is truly unique in that it is the only organisation that represents 80

national occupational therapy organisations worldwide.

History

Founded in 1952, WFOT is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO), which has

been in official relations with the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 1959

and recognised by the United Nations (UN) since 1963.

Career

Occupational therapy was ranked as the 7th

best job in 20121 a worthy

accolade (though we would rank it 1st

!). A well established and continually

growing profession, occupational therapy is recognised as one of the important

health and social care professions throughout the world.

The World Federation of Occupational Therapists is the organisation that

unites occupational therapy worldwide.

Why advertise with us?

As the only international organisational representing occupational therapy

worldwide, WFOT offers a plethora of products and services to serve a global

community.

Our newly designed websitewww.wfot.org was launched in late 2011 and

continues to be one of our main communication portals. The website attracts

visitors from all over the world including national occupational therapy

associations, occupational therapists, students, assistants, other health care

professions, governments, policymakers and the general public.

Between October 2011 and October 2012 our website generated a staggering

52,000 page views per month*.

As an international organisation, our membership comprises of occupational

therapists who speak a range of languages. We offer translated documents andonline services that enable people to access our publications from wherever

they are based.

Launched in late 2011, WFOTs Facebook Pagewww.facebook.com/thewfot is

enjoying incredible success, with nearly 8000 people supporting our work and

continuing to grow on daily basis.

subscribers. It contains all the latest news from around the world including

WFOT Bulletin

The WFOT Bulletin is the organisations peer reviewed journal published in

May and November of each year. The Bulletin is distributed to 29,000

Individual Members, 80 national occupational therapy associations and over 50

subscribing libraries worldwide.

Both print and digital versions of the WFOT Bulletin are produced which are

used as a reference text for therapists, educators and students.

The WFOT Bulletin includes peer reviewed journal articles, reports, features,

vales and news items from WFOT Member Organisations.

There is the opportunity to place half and full page advertisements and two

page advertorials which appear in both print and digital versions of the

publication.

You may wish to sponsor the production of an entire edition of the WFOT

Bulletin. This would enable your logo and company profile to appear on the

front cover in addition to three half page advertisements and one full pageadvertisement.

We print and distribute 2500 copies of the Bulletin worldwide. There is the

EVENTS World Occupational Therapy Day

World Occupational Therapy Day takes place on the 27th October of each year.

The event is celebrated by national associations, occupational therapists,students and assistants all over the world. Many organise high profile events to

promote the global presence of the occupational therapy profession. We

promotional materials are downloaded from our Resource Centre.

The World Occupational Therapy Day campaign starts in June of each year and

ends in May the following year.
