Welcome back to term 2! Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you to the parents, students and staff of Middle Harbour Public School for their heart-felt congratulations and warm welcome to the role of Principal. I have had the pleasure of being a part of the Middle Harbour school community for 8 years now and was pleased to accept the position of Principal to such a wonderful place of learning. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Carole Jaye for her consistent and quality leadership as relieving Principal, and am thrilled that she will remain on our school executive as Deputy Principal. I look forward to working together with our staff, students and parents to lead the school towards a new Strategic Plan for 2021-2023 and the continued growth and success of Middle Harbour students. Phased Managed Return to School On Monday 11 May, we will move into Phase 1 and begin our managed return to school for students. As advised, in this phase, all NSW students will attend school one day per week and learn remotely 4 days per week. On Tuesday, you will receive an email from the school notifying you of the day your child has been allocated to attend school and engage in face-to-face lessons with their classroom teacher. On these days, teachers will work with students on learning engagement, progress and student wellbeing, with a focus on literacy and numeracy. Allocations have been made to ensure siblings return on the same day. We are aware that your child's allocated day may not be a day that best suits you as a parent, and that this may cause you some concern, however due to the logistical complexity of the phased return, we unfortunately cannot accommodate parent or student requests for allocated days and would appreciate your understanding in this. As stated in the most current advice by the Premier, during this phase children should continue to be kept at home except for their 'rostered day’ and we ask parents to respect the guidelines that have been established by the Department around this. Please note that this does not apply to those students who need to attend. It is anticipated that all NSW students will gradually increase the number of days at school before the end of the term, and we will continue to adjust our plans as needed based on any new advice we receive from the NSW Department of Education. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s return to school, or learning from home, we strongly encourage you to contact the school. We look forward to welcoming all our students back and would like to thank our families again for their support during these uncertain times. Laura Barry Principal WELCOME TO TERM 2
