Science Experiment- Bread and GermsWe are researching a very topical subject at the moment i.e. the effect of handwashing on germs! - Your experiment is as follows:

1. Take five slices of white bread and place them in separate sandwich bags.

2. The first slice of bread should be put into a bag untouched so use a clean tongs or similar kitchen implement to do this.

3. The second slice should be touched as much as possible by all the hands in the house preferably not hands that have been washed recently! We are looking for dirty hands here if that is possible at the moment!

4. The third slice of bread should be touched straight after you have washed your hands with soap and water.

5. The fourth slice of bread should be touched straight after you have used hand sanitiser

6. The fifth slice of bread should be rubbed over a surface in your house that a lot of people use. Have a think about this and be creative!

Make sure you label all your sandwich bags and perhaps take a picture of them all each day to record any changes. You are watching to see which ones develop mould and how quickly this happens to see which conditions are optimum for germs to grow.Make sure to hypothesise/predict (a scientific word for guess!) about what will happen and what you think your results will be.Make sure to hypothesise/predict (a scientific word for guess!) about what will happen and what you think your results will be. You do not need to write out any results just observe over the next week.
