Example of a standard VMware API backup from a storage without snapshots

• ~34 min open VMware VM Snapshot in this example.

• Veeam uses parallel disk backup to reduce time window, but the VMware VM Snapshot is open for a long time.

• This leads to a ~28 min VMware VM Snapshot commit with high IO at Storage and possible performance impact on the VM.


With use of Huawei Storage Snapshots for Veeam backups

• VMware VM Snapshot is only open until the storage snapshot is created (18 seconds in this example).

• It creates Huawei snapshots in the background directly after the VM snapshot creation.
