Senior Football Championship Valleys senior footballers travelled to Pairc Ui Rinn on
Saturday night to take on Nemo Rangers in the
opening round of the senior football championship.
This was a tough outing for valleys. Nemo started
lively kicking five unanswered points. John Cottrell
kicked valleys opening score from a free. Nemo piled
on the pressure kicking a further 2-3 in the first half.
Valleys remaining scores coming from Aidan Walsh
and Eoin Delaney leaving valleys trailing 2-8 to 0-3 at
half time.
Nemo continued as they left off in the first half.
Valleys tried hard in the second half but found
Nemo’s defence hard to break down. A long delivery
found Danny O Sullivan heading in on goal and saw
his flick go to the Nemo net. Further points from Eoin
Delaney, John Cottrell and David Lynch saw valleys
loosing on a score line of Nemo Rangers 3-14 to
Valley Rovers 1-6.

Fe 18 P1 Football Championship
Valleys minors travelled to Ovens to play Nemo Rangers
in the first round of their P1 football championship last
Wednesday night. Valleys got an early score on the
board form Adam Walsh Murphy. Nemo began to take
control kicking four unanswered points. A point form
Aaron O’Leary kept valleys ticking over. Another three
points from Nemo had valleys trailing by six heading
towards half time. Points from Cian Crowley, Conor
Taheny and Brian McCarthy and some excellent
defending from Cormac Kilduff, Darragh Keane and Cian
O’Keeffe had valleys trailing 0-8 to 0-5 at half time.
The second half was nip and tuck with scores hard to
come by from both teams. A point from Aaron O’Leary
and Conor Taheny, and a further three points from
Nemo had valleys trailing by three points in injury time.
A lot of valleys pressure yielded valleys a penalty. Conor
Taheny slotted home the penalty with the sides’ level
three minutes into injury time. From the kick out Nemo
went down the field and were awarded a dubious free
on the 21-meter line which they scored. Nemo winning
out on a final score of 0-11 to Valley Rovers 1-7.
Team:

Cormac Kilduff, Cathal O’Sullivan, Darragh Keane,

U11 Football
On Thursday last Valley Rovers were at home in the
Bleach against Ballygarvan in the first U11 Football
game of the year. The Rovers had 25 players and
fielded two teams on the day. With very little football
done prior to the game it was hard to know how the
games would go but credit to the lads they played
excellently. Both teams won their respective games
with both teams performing very well, next match is
this Thursday away to Blarney in Hurling.
Panel of Players: Conor McGregor, Kyle Burke,
Eoghan Galgey, Liam O’Donovan, Daniel O’Donovan,
Paul Cremin, Jack McCarthy (Innishannon), Jack
O’Donoghue. Mark Hurley, Matthew Humphries,
Michael Croke, Charlie Lynch, Jack Le Blanc, Jack
Healy, Donnacha Lynch, Tomas O’Riordan, Sean
O’Riordan, Jack McCarthy (Castlelack),Harry McCourt,
Lewis Linehan, Ruadhan McCarthy, Rory Curtin, Fionn

U10 Football On Saturday, April 6th Sam Maguire’s from
Dunmanway played against Valley Rovers in Brinny.
Three teams lined out and the U10 squads were
determined to step up a gear after a challenging day
out against Ballincollig previously.
There was a clear step up in performance from the
Page 4 of 9
first throw-in in all matches. A steely determination
was evident from defence through to attack. The
excellent man-marking and clearances from Mark
Dineen, Charlie Kelleher-Barry and Shane Barrett were
a foundation for success up front. Despite the
opposition being a talented outfit with excellent
shooting skills, Valley Rovers countered every score
with an even better reply and began to pull ahead as
their confidence increased in all three games. Aaron
Broderick, Adam Browne and Sean Platt were scoring
from all angles with combination plays from Aaron and
Patrick Hennessy drawing applause from the
supporters. Max Clover is proving a revelation and
Eanna Burke was in top form again and demonstrated
his natural footballing talent and swagger. Jack Holland
and Darragh Murphy were landing scores from
distances that were particularly impressive.
The matches wrapped up with Valley Rovers players
celebrating and feeling justifiably proud that their hard
work in training was paying dividends. The choice
of Laochra na hImeartha was tougher than ever but
Darragh Murphy and Jack Holland both played their
best ever games for Valley Rovers and so richly deserve
the man of the match awards.
Last Saturday saw Kevin O’Donovan and Alan Quirke
run a mile around the Bleach in aid of the Parkinson
Association & the cork Deaf Association. Well done to
Kevin in his fundraising efforts for this worthy cause.
A Big thank you to Alan and everyone that showed up
to support Kevin on the day.

Intermediate Camogie League
Valleys, after being regraded from the Senior grade,
made their intermediate league debut on Friday night
last when they travelled to Coachford to take on last
year’s intermediate championship finalist Aghabullogue.
Fielding six minors & two U16’s in the starting team, this
really is a regrouping of the team & this first outing
proved to be a challenging start. Aghabullogue
dominated the first half & took a commanding 1-06 to 0-
2 lead at half-time, while Valleys were trying to get to
grips with the game.
The second half proved to be a different story with
valleys maintaining most of the possession & keeping
Aghabullogue to just 1 point. However a lovely point
from play from Liz Bugler, two more frees from Susan
O’Leary & one from Katie Lynch was all that Valleys
could convert despite the vast amount of possession.
Final Score: Valley Rovers 0-05 Aghabullogue 1-07.
While I’m sure it was felt that is was a game that was left
behind, there were lots of positives to be taken from the
game, with new comers Aine Lynch & Orla O’sullivan
playing well, Sarah McCarthy slotting in well at full-back
& the experienced Liz Bugler & Katie Lynch leading the
way throughout. The next outing is Monday April 15th
when Watergrasshill are the visitors. Team:
Gillian Harrington,
Rachel Lordan, Sarah McCarthy, Ellen Fehilly;
Aine Lynch, Susan O’Leary, Marie Forde;
Liz Bugler, Katie Lynch;
Orla O’Sullivan, Sarah Lynch, Cliona Reardon;
Kim Muckian, Laoise Collins, Elaine Forde.
Subs: Ena Coughlan & Laura Brew.
Scores: Susan O’Leary 0-3 (3 frees), Liz Bugler 0-1 & Katie
Lynch 0-1 (1 free).
