3rd grade students create “Brain” video
Please watch this You-
Tube video to support Waddell's 3rd Graders
(Chinese immersion) in Zeng Lao Shi's class. It
is for a contest called the "Organ Challenge."
You can support them by clicking “Like.”
Last year, several stu-dents from Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of
Dental Medicine (HMS/HSDM) were learning human body systems and made up a music video called "What Does the
Spleen Do" (http://youtu.be/aEi_4Cyx4Uw) to make it fun to learn about human body systems. It was a parody of
the song, "The Fox" by Ylvis. It had almost 2 million
views.
This year, the HMS/HSDM students put out a CHALLENGE
to all K-12 students. It is called the "organ challenge." They want to make learning science fun and challenged
students to come up with a music video, teaching about an organ system in a fun way.
In Zeng Lao Shi's 3rd grade class, students were learning about the “human body.” For their project, they decided to
put together a video and enter the contest. Please enjoy our parody of "Ho Hey" by the Lumineers, teaching about
the Brain called "BRAIN SONG"! ~Sapana Adhikari, parent

The very large fish update
A giant Koinobori carp bearing messages of encouragement and hope from our Waddell Japa-
nese students is now flying through the skies of Kobe, Japan! Our Koinobori, signed by both
Waddell and the Japanese Saturday School students, is a part of the Swimmy project based out
of Kobe. These giant fish were sent to Japanese language schools all over the world; they have
now returned to Japan and are gracing the skies in celebration of Children's Day on May 5th.
(Our fish is the very top one, flying high & strong...!)

We are reaching out to our dedicated network of parents and volunteers to help us administer
these mandatory assessments in both the elementary and middle school levels.

Thank you to all students who participated in Japan Anime Night last week. We had over 150 stu-
dents participate in the event. Students had the opportunity to watch "Ponyo," play Japanese games,
win prizes and learn about Japanese culture. We hope that all who participated enjoyed the evening.
Given our wonderful response to the event, we hope to organize a similar event in the future. Thank
you, also, to all teachers and staff who helped organize the event! ~ Japan Anime Team
