Letter From the EditorGrace and peace be unto you UNITED,

Welcome to this moment, this hour, this day that you have never seen before. Today is a new day filled with divine possibilities, connections and blessings waiting for our arrival. As we continue to allow the Word of God to renew our minds, we are sure to experience God like never before. Let the shift begin!

Preparations for the 25th Silver Anniversary Convocation are in full swing with so many opportunities and incentives to register and get involved. Super Sunday kicks off our national registration drive on June 8th (page 13), register your youth for a chance to win a special gift prize (page 17), register early for a seat at the 2014 People’s Appreciation Luncheon (page 13), send in your nominations for the UNITED Spirit Awards (page 18), and contact us to join our powerful team of Intercessors for this year’s conference (page 12). The excitement and expectancy is palpable as we prepare to come together and give God thanks for 25 years of love, learning, fellowship, service and unity. Women and youth, be sure to read this month’s issue for key details of regarding your Convocation experience. Come prepared to encounter our Limitless God!

The Lord is preparing our hearts this month to reflect on our daily lifestyle. Our new Music Director Bishop J. Nathan Paige speaks to us about Worship…A Lifestyle. We hope you are blessed as you enjoy this month’s issue. Be encouraged, and above all UNITED, continue to stand.

In His Service, Annette ParkinsEditorwww.unitedcovenantchurches.org

Worship….A LifestyleWorship is a vital component of the Christian life and, like praise, is an instrument we can use as a weapon to defeat the enemy and to exalt God. The enemy doesn’t like to be in the presence of worship or praise because it brings God’s very presence on the scene. Not only that, but it takes the attention off of all his schemes and diversions and brings all glory towards the Lord. In order to have a successful relationship with God, we must understand the importance of worship as a lifestyle. Worship should never be something we do haphazardly or without putting focused intention into it. It is basically an expression of our love, admiration, appreciation, and reverence for God. Many people are guilty of thinking that deals with the set “praise and worship” times we have at church, however as believers, worship cannot be limited to the songs we sing at the beginning of a service. God wants worship not only on our lips, but also in our hearts. He wants our worship to be sincere. He wants to be the most important thing in our lives, that we are truly submissive to him. Therefore, worship is a lifestyle for those who are serious about their relationship with God. In John 4:23, Jesus says, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” This text basically tells us that when we worship God we must do it from our hearts, with an intention of love for God. This must come from a pure place because the Lord knows when something is coming from a place of absolute love and for him.

Worship is the substance of one’s life. Worship is responding to the call of God. The psalmist says even creation responds back to its Creator in worship. Should believers do any less? The word worship originally comes from an old English word, which means ascribing worth to some one or thing. The Lord is good and His mercy endures forever. He is always worthy of worship and adoration. What must be taught and caught is that our lives are offered up in every aspect as worship unto the Lord (Romans 12:1-3).

Worship is about surrendering our lives, thoughts and emotions totally for the Master’s use. Our lifestyle should be one that is submitted to Christ and an act of worship. We can not reduce our service to God to a time or a temple, but it is done whenever and wherever we are, because we are the temple of God. The great shift is away from ceremony, seasons, rituals and places and is focused on what we were created to do, and that is worship. Worship should invade our entire lives. The true test of worship is not only what happens in organized settings but what happens wherever we go. It is a lifestyle!

We Celebrate The Life of Deacon Michael A. Norris, Sr.

March 23, 1959 – May 27, 2014

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: John 11:25

Death is never easy to accept but it becomes even harder when it's someone you love, respect and admire. Tabernacle of Praise Cathedral lost one of its very best and one of its brightest!! Deacon Michael Norris was a

true saint and his attitude toward life, family and Christ

was one to be remembered and cherished forever.

Our prayers are with the Norris family. We are grieving with you and rejoicing with Heaven at the

same time

Welcome to Summer!

It’s fantastic to finally enjoy these warm summer days across our country after a long winter for many of us. This is such an exciting time of the year for the family of UNITED as we are in final preparation to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of the United Covenant Churches of Christ held in Towson Maryland, July 22-26, 2014 during Holy Convocation.

I write this letter to encourage with great joy and anticipation of those that will travel to be a part of the U-NEXT –GENERATION BREAKTHROUGH conference. The UC3 conference theme for this year is U GOT NEXT! This theme and outline of classes is relevant to this generation and therefore I would highly encourage every youth, youth leader, and parent that is a part of UCCC, attend this conference that is geared towards preparing our NEXT GENERATION for their breakthrough.

There will be classes such as TUG OF WAR, WE GOT NEXT, AND BREAKTHROUGH BEHAVIOR, which are designed with you our youth in mind, to be motivational and inspiring to all age groups covering elementary school age children to our young adults and leaders. As a special added value of this event, the opportunity to network with other youth who profess and proclaim Jesus as their savior to the World, will be life changing and encouraging to all that attend!!!!!

Page 15: United Times ~ June 2014

What’s Next? All you have to do is type in www.unitedcovenatchurches.org and register for U-NEXT – GENERATION BREAKTHROUGH. I am using this opportunity to again encourage you to be a part of the 25th Silver Anniversary of UCCC. I am confident you will be attending and I look forward to seeing you in Towson!!!!!
