Turn off the Screens Week

May 4th to May 10th, 2015

Families are encouraged to turn off their televisions, video

games & computers for 7 days (except for use with homework)

to participate in the tenth annual Turn Off the Screens Week.

Tips to decrease your family’s screen time Move the TV to a less visible location. Hide the remote control. Plan your TV viewing. Turn on the TV when your favourite show starts. Turn it off

when it ends. Use physical activity as a reward, rather than screen time as a reward. Don’t worry if your child says “I’m bored”. Boredom often leads to creativity & physi-

cally active play. Try to break your TV watching patterns. If you usually watch TV after the dishes are done, go for a walk. Make sure your caregiver or sitter follows your screen time rules. Start young. Develop good screen habits before your child starts school. Set a good example! You are the most important role model in your child’s life. Limit your own screen time use and carefully select the programs you watch. Log Sheets will be coming home soon with chances for all participating students to win great prizes.

Let’s get involved Immaculate Conception!

Student Council Clothing Drive

Student Council is raising money for their social

justice project. If you have any clothing, shoes,

boots, purses, belts, etc that you would like to be

rid of, we will take them. The Kidney Foundation

morning to pick up the clothing. We receive

money for every pound of clothing we collect.

A good time to start your spring cleaning.

Merci!
