Today at Saint Mark
Pancake Breakfast Join us this morning for a pancake breakfast in Wade
Hall! French toast, waffles, sausage, grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs
will also be served. Cost is $5/ person. Proceeds benefit Saint Mark missions.
Our 5 week class series for newcomers continues today at 10:10am in the
parlor. Anyone who is new to Saint Mark or considering joining the church is
invited to attend. On Sunday, Oct. 30, participants will have the opportunity
to join the church during Morning Worship. Contact Rev. Josh Noblitt at
[email protected] for details.
New Faith Seekers class series Our month long study Discovering the Power
of Grace in our Individual Lives, facilitated by Mary Abbott Waite, continues.
Discussions will draw from scriptures, John Wesley's writings, Charles Wesley
hymn texts, other sources and personal experiences. The class meets
Sundays at 10:10am in room 205; all are welcome!
Meeting for parents today All children’s Sunday school teachers and any
other interested parents are requested to meet in Wade Hall after the 11:15
Morning Worship service.
Due to the AIDS Walk this afternoon, the Worship committee meeting
originally scheduled for today will be rescheduled.
This year’s Atlanta AIDS Walk will be held in Piedmont Park today. Once
again a Saint Mark team will participate. Saint Mark is always in the top 10
fundraisers for this event and we want to keep it that way! We are typically
the only church in the top 10, which is usually filled with large corporate
donors. Let’s keep this witness going! Registration begins at 11am. The 5K
walk begins at 2pm and the 5K run begins at 1pm. If you are not able to walk
with the Saint Mark team, it’s not to late to make a donation. Visit the church
website www.stmarkumc.org, click on “Events” and look for the information
on the AIDS Walk.
Our children’s Fall Festival will take place on the church lawn next Sunday,
October 23 from 2 to 6pm in conjunction with Atlanta Streets Alive. This is a
great opportunity for Saint Mark to connect with new Midtown residents.
We still need volunteers to help organize, and set up games, etc.; contact
James Mullen at [email protected] if you can help. Atlanta Streets
Alive is an initiative of the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, offering free and fun
activities for participants, turning streets into temporary parks. You can enjoy
the open streets route and participate in free activities (such as our fall
festival) clustered in "activity hubs" along the route. To learn more, visit
atlantastreetsalive.com.
This Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7pm at Saint Mark, the Trey Clegg Singers proudly
present their inaugural fall concert March to Freedom: Songs of Sorrow,
Justice, and Hope. Musical selections will reflect the theme of freedom from
all forms of oppression, bigotry, classism, hate, and violence. The concert will
include an eclectic variety of musical styles and genres ranging from English
Cathedral music, Mozart’s Requiems, Broadway musicals, African American
Spirituals, R&B styles to Gospel music. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25
at the door and can be purchased online at www.freshtix.com/events/
thetreycleggsingers-fallconcert. For more information, call 678-364-7464.

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD
PASTORAL AND THE LORD’S PRAYER Sheila Stephens Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
