Build Updates: We are preparing to have the carpet installed next week. The mill delayed this one week. Final painting is being completed and the facility is looking beautiful. Stain glass should be arriving the week of November 12th. The installation of the fire hydrant is almost completed. This will bring a quicker response time to eliminate any fire issue that may occur on this Campus. The current part of Phase I of our New Build continues with an anticipated completion date of December 1, 2018. We are currently taking reservations for our Family Social Hall. Rental contracts and approved Caterer list will be available to all interested after contracts are approved the week of November 5. The New Build will continue after the Family Social Hall is completed moving on to the expansion of the Business Offices. This part of the New Build for the expansion of the Business Offices should be completed by April 1, 2019. We will be able to move forward with Phase II, the expansion of the Narthex of the Church, if we have received a total of $3,881,123 in pledges. We currently need $376,736 to complete Phase II. This would amount to $188.00 per registered family in our Parish. If we do not have these pledges by March 1, 2019, CONSTRUCTION WILL STOP! Please be generous with your continued pledges and gifts toward our Capital Campaign so we can expand the Narthex. We are so close! We have met 90% of our goal. The following we can anticipate with the Narthex expansion: Adoration Chapel, doubling the size of the open area to visit with friends, renovated Quieting Room, new Choir Room, new Bride’s Room, new bathrooms and much larger resource racks and Lending Library. Please take the time to respond to the mailing to all registered families next week. If you have pledged toward Phase I, Thank you. If you have pledged toward Phase II, Thank you again. If you have not pledged, please prayerfully consider a sacrificial pledge for Phase II. If you are able to increase the length of time for your pledge, please respond via email to [email protected] or drop a note in the offertory. If you ever notice any issue with your Capital Campaign billing statement or update letter, please give John Beyer a call and these will be updated immediately. Please continue your support of our Church and School by your offertory tithing during our Capital Campaign build. Thanksgiving for all that we have here at St. Pius X Church and School.

“Continuing To Renew All Things in Christ” Capital Campaign” Father Dave and John Beyer are asking ALL families to return a pledge card. If you are unable to commit to a pledge at this time, please notate that on your pledge card and a date to follow up. It is important to the success of our Capital Campaign that everyone who calls St. Pius X Church and School his or her home to:

• Pray for the success of the Combined Phases I and II of our Capital Campaign.• Be an Ambassador by becoming informed and involved, enthusiastically sharing this information with as many

people as you can, and encouraging others to become involved. • Make your sacrificial pledge. If you are unable to commit to a pledge at this time, return a pledge card noting this.

Last year, the sale netted over $5,000.00 for Joseph’s Coat. Sign-ups for additional bakers will be November 10/11 after all Masses. We are asking for six dozen homemade cookies of your choosing. We also have a need for volunteers to assist with the packaging of cookies for the sale on the morning of December 15th. The Cookie Sale will be December 15/16. This will be done in the PAC Room. We hope many of you will want to be a part of this fun sale! There are jobs for youth and men as well! Come join us! You can also sign up to bake by emailing Patricia Zeitman at [email protected] or calling or texting her at 760-402-7444.

SAINT OF THE DAY FOR NOVEMBER 7

Saint Didacus (c. 1400-November 12, 1463)Saint Didacus’ Story: Didacus is living proof that God “chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.”As a young man in Spain, Didacus joined the Secular Franciscan Order and lived for some time as a hermit. After Didacus became a Franciscan brother, he developed a reputation for great insight into God’s ways. His penances were heroic. He was so generous with the poor that the friars sometimes grew uneasy about his charity.Didacus volunteered for the missions in the Canary Islands and labored there energetically and profitably. He was also the superior of a friary there. In 1450, he was sent to Rome to attend the canonization of Saint Bernardine of Siena. When many of the friars gathered for that celebration fell ill, Didacus stayed in Rome for three months to nurse them. After he returned to Spain, he pursued a life of contemplation full-time. He showed the friars the wisdom of God’s ways.As he was dying, Didacus looked at a crucifix and said: “O faithful wood, O precious nails! You have borne an exceedingly sweet burden, for you have been judged worthy to bear the Lord and King of heaven” (Marion A. Habig, O.F.M., The Franciscan Book of Saints, p. 834).San Diego, California, is named for this Franciscan, who was canonized in 1588.We cannot be neutral about genuinely holy people. We either admire them or we consider them foolish. Didacus is a saint because he used his life to serve God and God’s people. Can we say the same for ourselves?
