Am I Ready? The readings for this weekend are words of warning for us. They are meant to help us prepare to meet God face‐to‐face. No one knows when this will happen so we should be ready all the time. It’s like planning for a dream vacation. There are certain things to do to help be sure our trip will be the best possible. Checking the details, making the reservations, and booking the travel arrangements. Taking care of details before the trip will help ensure we have a good time. There are of course, things beyond our control, like the weather. Even the best planning cannot guarantee perfect weather. Our final spiritual destination is heaven and eternal life. There is planning and preparation necessary for this journey. The difference with this journey and planning a vacation is that we do not know when our spiritual journey will end. It began at our baptism and continues throughout our whole life. We must prepare for the destination every day. In our first reading from the book of Wisdom, we are told that Wisdom is readily perceived by those who love her and found by those who seek her. Wisdom is a gift we have been given to help us in our preparation. Wisdom can help us make good decisions on our journey. Wisdom can be our trip planner if we use her wisely. St. Paul reassures the Thessalonians that if we believe that Jesus died and rose, he will surely bring with him to the Father those who have fallen asleep. Those who have prepared well will be with Jesus in heaven. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the 10 virgins. Five are wise and 5 are foolish. Five virgins were prepared and ready for the bridegroom’s appearance. They planned for a possible delay. The foolish virgins didn’t plan well. They did not allow for delays. When the bride groom was delayed, they ran out of oil for their lamps. So how ready am I for my meeting with God? How prepared am I? I always keep a small bag with my toiletries
packed in my closet. This way I know I won’t forget anything when I travel. I even have an extra phone charger packed!
Am I this prepared for my final journey? Is my soul clean and ready to go? Have I sought Wisdom’s guidance in my life?
Since none of us know the hour we will be called home, we must always be ready to go. Are we ready? Will we stay
ready? This is too important a trip to be like the foolish virgins. Keep that extra oil or spiritual toiletry bag ready.

Our Weekly Reflection/Nuestra reflexión seminal Mrs. (Sra.) Terry Navarro
¿Estoy Listo?
No permitieron retrasos.

Giving Tree Our Giving Tree will have a different look this year. There are even more people in need this year. To keep everyone safe we will have a different way of participating in our parish tradition of helping others. Our Giving Tree will not have ornaments on it for you to choose. We are asking only for gifts of cash or Walmart and Target gift cards. We will have a basket near our bare Giving Tree. We ask that all donations be in envelopes and that you deposit them in the basket NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13. There will be a second basket near the tree with ornaments in it. When you place your donation in the first basket, we ask you to put an ornament on the bare tree. As the donations come in the tree will be decorated. The tree will be up by Thanksgiving day. It is especially important to remain socially distanced as gifts are returned and ornaments are placed on the tree! We believe this system will allow us to help those in need in a way that helps keep all of us safe. If you do not want to go to the Giving Tree basket you may drop your donation in the regular collection baskets but make sure you write “Giving Tree” on the envelope. You may also drop your marked envelopes in the rectory mail slot. We know many people are currently facing difficult financial situations. As in the past, the collection will help the children in the Courage program, families in need, and the homeless from the former PADS shelter.
