Next Sunday, the same Spirit of Pentecost will be with us at our feast of Corpus Christi (Body and Blood of Christ) for which we have our annual Eucharistic Procession. Here are a few highlights: + Plan to carve out an hour (11:45-12:45) to join us for this very special procession this year down Lincoln Avenue in O’Fallon, for a one-mile prayerful walk to our old church (School Chapel) for Benediction. For those not able to do the walk, you can meet us there for the prayer. + We will provide a bus at the School Chapel to transport you back to the church to your car. + Why this tradition? Begun in the 13th Century, as we sol-emnly process the Eucharist from inside to outside, it helps us move from an “insider mentality” to an awareness that Christ is for everyone. The Eucharistic procession helps us recognize who we are as a Catholic community and points us toward soli-darity with others: Those who recognize Jesus in the sacred Host, recognize Him in their suffering brother or sister. Walk-ing with Jesus in this procession, we can see ourselves as mem-bers of His Body, but we can also look at the world through the loving eyes of Jesus Christ. This is a feast of who we ARE. + Our new deacon John Gomez will lead us in the procession and give his first Benediction! + The procession will follow the 10:30 Mass so you can either come to that Mass or meet us in front of the church at 11:45. Thanks for loving the traditions of our Catholic Faith and join-ing in this special procession! The Peace of the Holy Spirit be with you! Fr. Jim Deiters P.S. I will be away this week on retreat. Let us pray for each other!

This weekend we gratefully and prayer-fully remember all those who sacrificed their lives serving our country. This ultimate giving of oneself is the most selfless act of love we humans perform. That raises the question - are we that giving of our spiritual selves?

Today provides an opportunity for us to take a moment to reflect on how well we are fulfilling our vocation in life – ordained, married, consecrated, or single. Perhaps a prayer of recommitment is appropriate as we give thanks for those who have sacrificed so much for us.
