2018-2019 FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION Registration for next year’s Faith Formation year is under way. We have classes for Pre-K3/4 through eighth grade, as well as High School Teen Ministry. Pre-K3/4 and Kindergarten meet on Sundays during the 10:00 am Mass. Grades 1–8 meet on Tuesdays from 6:00–7:15 pm. Classes for first Communion and confirmation are also being formed. A child is not automatically enrolled in the sacraments of first Communion and confirmation. If you would like to enroll your child in the sacraments or would like more information, contact Sally Daniel at [email protected] or 301-530-1640. Register your child at http://stjanedechantal.org/faith-formation/religious-ed-k-8/register. 2018-2019 HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY REGISTRATION High School Teen Ministry is a great way for our teens to stay in contact with friends they have made while at St. Jane’s School or CCD, as well as to stay connected to the parish. High School Youth Ministry is not CCD for high schools students. While there are times we focus on a particular topic of faith and life, everything we do is to help the students grow in their faith and live it out, through things like social activities, service opportunities, parish involvement, and retreats. about three times a month, mostly on Sundays from 6:00–8:00 pm, with an occasional outing outside of that time. There is a teen leadership team who assists with the youth ministry. Register at http://stjanedechantal.org/faith-formation/religious-ed-k-8/register/. CCD TEACHERS, CO-TEACHERS, & ADULT LEADERS CCD teachers, co-teachers and High School Teen Ministry adult leaders are needed for next year. These are vital ministries in the parish so that our young people can learn and grow in their faith. You do not need to have teaching experience to teach the faith, only a love of the faith and a love of being with children. Training and help will be given with materials to use, in-service, as well as a guidebook on planning lessons. The Virtus child protection background check, which can be completed in the summer, must be completed before volunteering can begin. If you would like more information or to volunteer, contact Sally Daniel at [email protected] or 301-530-1640.

Check out the St. Jane de Chantal School website at www.dechantal.org to get information on admissions,

see what each classroom is studying, and more. CATHOLIC SCHOOL AWARDS FOR 2018 On Friday, May 11 The Knights of Columbus honored St. Jane de Chantal with three awards for 2018. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Mrs. Elizabeth Hamilton; Teacher of the Year Award was given to Mrs. Mary D'Antonio; and the Service Award was given to Mrs. Susan Shaeffer. Congratulations to these three women, who, with their intelligence, grace, and understanding, help our students and teachers achieve excellence every day. SIXTH GRADE TO WILDERNESS ADVENTURE Each year, the sixth grade travels four+ hours away to Wilderness Adventure at Eagle's Landing in New Castle, VA, to bond as a class through teamwork building activities, push themselves to do high ropes courses, zip-line and rock walls, learn how to canoe, goof off with swim activities in the pond, and be outside in the wilderness enjoying all that nature has to offer. It is a highlight of sixth grade, and an unforgettable experience for these young adults. EIGHTH GRADE TO WILLIAMSBURG Our eighth grade class ends their nine years together at De

Chantal with an overnight trip to Williamsburg each year. This is a beautiful way for the class to reflect, bond, and prepare themselves for graduation.

Today’s second reading reminds us that we are the adopted sons and daughters — the heirs — of God.

We are good stewards of our inheritance when we share our faith and fulfill Our Lord’s command

to “go . . . and make disciples of all the nations.”

POOR BOX The Poor Box next weekend, June 2/3, will benefit the Monsignor Christopher Fund, which provides need-based scholarships to our parish school.

“The Trinity is also the ultimate goal toward which our earthly pilgrimage is directed. The journey of Christian life is indeed essentially a ‘Trinitarian’ journey: the Holy Spirit guides us to full knowledge of Christ’s teachings, and also reminds us what Jesus taught us. Jesus, in turn, came into the world to make the Father known to us, to guide us to Him, to reconcile us with Him. Everything in Christian life revolves around the Mystery of the Trinity and is fulfilled according to this infinite mystery.”
