Late Game Drama Leads To Thrilling FinishAs Bryan Edges Out The Wauseon Indians
By: Mitchell Peebles
THE VILLAGE REPORTER
BRYANIt is not often that a broken
play is the key to a teams success, but
Friday night at Golden Bear Stadium,
that is exactly what happened. After
scoring a touchdown with only five sec-
onds left to play, Bryan decided to try
and send the game into overtime with
an extra point. A botched snap changed
those plans. The snap saw the ball skip
on the ground to place holder Sean
Culler of the Bears, who quickly jumped
to his feet as the Indians defense had
broken through the line of Bryan. Culler
narrowly avoided getting tackled, and
delivered what would prove to be the
game winning pass to teammate Derek
Knisely, successfully completing the two
point conversion, and sealing the 28-27
comeback win for the Golden Bears on
homecoming night, and breaking the
hearts of Indian players and fans alike.
With all the hype and excitement
surrounding the match-up of the two
unbeaten teams, it was hard to imagine
that the game could possibly exceed the
expectations of spectators, but what
turned out to be an instant NWOAL
classic game did just that, and could
possibly turn out to be the game of the
season.
The night started off well for the
Golden Bears, as Bryan quarterback
Austin Schimmoeller connected on a 46
yard touchdown pass to BrandonPoncsak, followed on their next drive by
a 10 yard touchdown run by Dan
Pendergrast, putting the Bears ahead by
a score of 13-0, and it seemed as if the
Bears may run away with the win, but
the Tribe had a different plan.
The Indians would score 14 unan-
swered points in the final two minutes
of the half. The first touchdown came off
a two yard Axel Bueter run which
capped off 61 yard drive. Bueter would
then intercept a Schimmoeller pass at
the Bryan 47 yard line, and the Indians
would capitalize, as Wauseons senior
quarterback Ty Suntken would punch
the ball into the end zone with only one
second left in the half. The momentum
had shifted, and very suddenly, Wauseon
had taken a 14-13 halftime lead overBryan.
Bueter would again come up big for
the Indians, as he caught a 53 yard
touchdown pass from Suntken, and
would simply refuse to be brought down
as he broke several tackles on his way
into the end zone, and Wauseon held a
20-13 lead at the end of three quarters
of play.
Bryan would fumble the ensuing
kickoff, and the Indians would waste
little time, as Suntken would again lead
his team to a score, as he dropped back
to pass, but when seeing no one was
open, ran the five yards into the end
zone. The Indians had scored 27 unan-
swered points, making it 27-13
Wauseon, with 11:50 left in the game.
The Bears would put together a
drive, but Wauseons JJ Kauffman
picked off Schimmoellers pass in the
end zone, giving the Indians the ball
with only six minutes remaining, and it
looked as if the Tribe was going to be
able to run out the clock, and snap
Bryans 17 game regular season win-
ning streak.
But as had happened all throughout
the night, as soon as the outcome
seemed certain, momentum changed. A
fumble by Bueter at the Indians eight
yard line would prove costly for the
Tribe, as it would lead to a Derek
Knisely touchdown reception, making it
27-20 with 5:19 remaining. The Bears
would attempt an onside kick, but the
Indians would recover, and then go
three and out on the ensuing posses-
sion, giving Bryan the ball on the Golden
Bear 33 yard line.
The Bears would then put together
what proved to be an absolutely unbe-
lievable finish to the game.
As Bryan head coach Kevin Kline put
it, There was a little bit of luck at the
end. Sometimes you need that. After driving 84 yards, and convert-
ing two fourth down situations, the
Bears found themselves in a do or die
situation. The clock running with less
than 10 seconds remaining, and no
timeouts. Schimmoeller got the snap,
and dashed towards the end zone. The
Indian defense had stopped him short of
the goal line, but Schimmoeller had
fumbled the ball into the end zone, and
that is when Golden Bear lineman Jason
Hug jumped on the ball, and was cred-
ited with the touchdown, with only 5.3
seconds left to play.
That led to the botched extra point
attempt, which sealed the win for the
Golden Bears.
Im proud of our kids for not quit-ting and sticking with things, said
Golden Bear head coach Kevin Kline, ...
they kept fighting. Thats what we
always tell them, to always try to get one
more snap. That came down to the bit-
ter end.
Wauseon head coach Travis Cooper
feels that his team proved themselves as
the real deal as well, even in the loss.
It was a good football game, said
Wauseon coach Travis Cooper. If there
was any question as to whether we
belonged on this field, it was answered.
All the talk about Bryan as so dominant,
theyre a good team...but I think we
have a good team as well. Indeed the
Indians did play exceptionally well,
especially their defense which held thedangerous Bryan offense to their lowest
point total of the season, and 30 points
under the Bears average points scored
in 2013, which coming in to the game
against Wauseon was 57.4 points per
game.
The loss is Wauseons first of the sea-
son, making them 5-1 overall, and 3-1
in NWOAL play. Bryan moves their reg-
ular season winning streak to 18, and
are now 6-0 on the 2013 campaign, and
4-0 in league play. Bryan faces another
tough test as they travel to Patrick
Henry next week to face the 5-1 Patriots.
Wauseon will look to bounce back
with a win as they host the 1-5 Montpelier
Locomotives for the Indians homecom-
ing.
With the game being as exciting and
evenly matched as it was, many are now
hoping that a rematch is in store come
playoff time. Will that wish come true?
Many NWOAL football fans certainly
hope so.

Edon Bombers Drop A Shutout OnThe Ottawa Hills Green Bears
By: Kent HutchisonTHE VILLAGE REPORTER
EDON- The Edon Blue Bomberswere anything but gracious hosts intheir October 4th gridiron encounterwith the Ottawa Hills Green Bears. Thehigh powered Bomber offense ripped off14 points in the first four minutes ofthe contest and rolled to a 42-0 white-washing of the Green Bears.
After receiving the kickoff, Edonsoffense began the evening at their 29
yard line. Quarterback Kaden Sapp hitBrock Thiel for a six yard gain on thefirst play from scrimmage. Followingan incompletion by quarterback Sapp,
Trevor Green picked up three yardsleaving the Bombers one yard short ofthe first down with the ball resting onthe Edon 38 yard line. In uncharacter-istic fashion, the punt team marchedon to the field in the opening drive.Mike Peeples dropped back in punt for-mation. However, a little trickerationwas in the air as the snap went toConnor Hug instead of Peeples. Thesenior receiver followed his wall ofblockers to the right sideline for an 18
yard gain and the initial first down ofthe night. Sapp hit Landon Bloir right
in front of the Bomber bench for a 20yard gain. With the pigskin now restingat the 24, the Bombers needed just onemore play to cross the goaline as thetouchdown tandem of Sapp to Hugstruck again. After Peeples extra pointattempt sailed wide left Edon held a 6-0lead with 10:08 remaining in the open-ing quarter.
The long bus ride from Toledo musthave left the Green Bears a little wearyas the Bombers caught them off guardwith an onside kick. After a madscramble in front of the Ottawa Hillsbench, Sapp emerged with the ball inhis grasp and suddenly the offense wasback in business at the midfield stripe.
The quarterback gained a hard twoyards, then appeared to have a huge
hook up with Hug. However, an unnec-essary roughness penalty nullified thebig gain. Undaunted by the infraction, the duo connected again for a 13 yardgain. Green picked up 13 yards, then 8more on successive carries moving theball to the OH 16 yard marker. Thefinal distance was traveled as Sapp hit
Thiel in the left corner of the end zone.Green took the handoff from Sapp andfollowed the line to paydirt for the twopoint conversion giving the Bombers a14-0 advantage as 8:04 was still left inthe stanza.
Finally making their first venture onto the field, the Edon defense sprintedon fired up with the lead. The Bombershad no problem caging the Green Bears
offense and forcing a punt in fourdowns. The punt came to rest at midfield
giving Edon great field possession onceagain. Sapp used his legs for a six yardgain, but missed his mark on a seconddown pass attempt. Intending to go tothe air again, instead Sapp was droppedfor a loss of seven on a sack. Peeplespunt attempt was no aberration thistime as it came to rest at the Green
Bears 21.Ottawa Hills was able to move the
chains for the first time on the night, however the success was short lived.
The Bomber defense held strong, aidedon a third down sack by JordanWhitaker and Kenny Ordway. Once
again the ball was punted back toEdon.
The offensive surge by the Bombers
stayed strong. Sapp to Hug for 18more, then a quarterback keeper for 14
additional yards. The duo connectedagain through the air for 16 more
yards, then Sapp covered the final sixyards on the ground with 13 seconds
remaining in the quarter. Peeples kicksplit the uprights giving Edon a com-manding 21-0 lead at the end of one.
Another three and out by the Bomberdefense led to another quick score.
This time only 30 seconds and two
plays were needed to add points to theboard. Beginning at the Edon 48 yardline, Sapp hit Thiel for a nineteen yard
gain. Sapp then rolled right and foundHug once again, this time wide open in
the left corner of the endzone. The kickby Peeples was straight and true asEdon upped the margin to 28-0 with
10:24 remaining in the half. The Green Bears were able to obtain
another first down, this time compli-
ments of an Edon offsides penalty. Thegenerosity was brief however as Zulchdropped the OH quarterback for a 10
yard loss on second down. Third downresulted in just a 2 yard pass comple-tion sending the Green Bear punt team
back onto the field. The fortune ofOttawa Hills went from bad to worse onfourth down as Colten Lyman broke
through the line blocking the punt. The Bomber offense, now simply in a
frenzy, ran back on the field with great
field position at the Green Bear 27. ASapp aerial to Peeples fell to the turf,
however a defensive holding penaltyresulted in a five yard gain. Sapp went
for all the marbles in the direction ofPeeples at the right side of the endzone.
The toss was just beyond the receiversgrasp. Facing second and ten from the
OH 17, the Bombers shifted gears tothe ground game. Green picked upseven yards, then Sapp added seven of
his own. Green covered the remainingthree yards for the touchdown andwhen Peeples added the PAT Edon now
led 53-0 with still 5:38 showing on theclock.
Ottawa Hills returned the kickoff to
their 33 yard line. The Green Bears, desperate for anything positive, movedthe ball consistently for the first time.
In ten plays Ottawa Hills had advancedthe ball in Bomber territory all the way
to the 34 yard line. The accomplish-ment however was brief. Green brokethrough to drop the OH quarterback for
a 9 yard loss, then a false start penaltymoved the offense back another five
yards. An incompletion, then a holding
penalty left the Green Bears all the wayback to their 40 yard line as the halfmercifully ended with the Bombers ...

Halftime did little to improve the fate
of the Green Bears. Ottawa Hills had
possession on their 22 yard line after
the second half kickoff. The rains
began obstructing the output of both
squads as each punted on their initialturns with the ball. The OH second
possession resulted in just a two yard
gain in the first two plays. Third down
was worse as the wet ball was fumbled
by the Green Bear running back and
recovered by Wyatt Walkowski at the
Ottawa Hills 36 yard line.
Green was thrown for a three yard
deficit, then a delay of game penalty
backed the ball to the 44 yard line. The
Bombers regrouped almost instantly as
Green gathered in the screen pass from
Sapp and turned the short toss into a
35 yard pick up. Green gained four
more on the ground before losing three
the next play. With the ball now resting
at the OH 7 yard line, Sapps third down
pass to Green fell incomplete. Edon
decided to go for it on fourth down. Thedecision appeared to be a bad one as
the snap to Sapp fell to the ground.
Rather than panic, the quarterback
scooped up the ball and launched it to
a wide open Thiel standing in the end-
zone. Peeples connected on his fourth
and final point after touchdown on the
night upping the advantage to 42-0 as
2:24 was left in the third quarter.
In large part credit the fact that a
torrential downpour set up shop over
Edon, as both offenses essentially shut
down for the night from this point for-
ward. Edon provided an opportunity for
their underclassman to gain some valu-
able playing time as they occupied the
field the entire fourth quarter. The sec-
ond string did their job of thwarting theGreen Bears attempts to put points on
the board, and ran out the clock on
offense to secure the shutout and 42-0
victory.
The aerial assault led by Sapp
proved to be very productive once again.
The junior signal caller connected with
his target on 13-18 attempts good for
222 yards and four scores. Sapp also
used his legs to find the endzone one
additional time. He gained 28 yards on
six sorties, while Green toted the pig-
skin 10 times for 31 yards and one
touchdown. Hug led the receiving corps
once again as he caught six passes for
117 yards and two TDs. Thiel hauled in
four tosses for 48 yards and a pair of
scores. Green grabbed two throws for
37 yards, while Bloir handled oneattempt for 20 yards.
The victory improves Edon to 4-2
overall and 2-1 in the Toledo Area
Athletic Conference. The Bombers will
make the trip across Williams County to
Hilltop where they will battle the BBC
and TAAC rival Cadets who enter the
contest 1-5 on the season and still look-
ing for their initial TAAC win.

Edon Bombers Drop A Shutout ...
Northwood Rangers Remain Perfect VersusHilltop; Clobbering The Cadets, 55-20
NORTHWOOD - Take a trip back
through the archives to 2005, the year
that the Hilltop Cadets football program
joined the Toledo Area Athletic
Conference, and you will see a consis-
tency that is all too familiar in Cadet
Country. Eight games, and eight years
of trying, Hilltop has never beaten the
Northwood Rangers. Theyve come close,
but even in the years that the Cadets
had playoff-bound teams, the schedule
had an L next to the Northwood game
at the end of the season.
Northwood brings nothing new or
surprising to each game, only new play-
ers who have taken up where othershave departed via graduation. The
Northwood option offense remains the
same...highly effective, and operated
with the greatest of slight-of-hand chi-
canery. When the Rangers welcomed in
the Cadets on October 4, the 1-5 Cadets
brought plenty of moxie with them, but
that alone was not enough to stave off a
55-20 defeat and an 0-9 record against
the Rangers.
With Quinn Smith under center, the
Hilltop offense has become more aggres-
sive and diverse...a good thing. What is
not such a good thing is that Smith, a
freshman, is learning the quarterback
position under game fire. The growth is
obvious, but the inexperience factor is
frequently exploited by opposing defens-
es. This came to light very quickly in the
game as Smith was picked off at the
Hilltop 18, and the ball returned for a
pick-six. Northwood was up 7-0 with
10:33 left in the first.
The Rangers got a sampling of the
stuff Smith brings to the table early in
the second period, as a Smith to Logan
Brooker pass from 13 yards out tied the
game at 7-7. The Cadets saw their
momentum wiped away on the ensuing
kickoff though, as the returner blew
through the Hilltop special teams unit
for 80 yards and the touchdown that
put the Rangers up by a 14-7 score.
That lead would never be threatened as
Northwood added two more touchdowns
within ten seconds of each other to
close out the half with a 28-7 lead.
The hometown boys blew the game
open with three unanswered touch-
downs in the third and another in the
fourth to open up a 48-7 lead. David
Smith brought Hilltop closer with a ten-
yard touchdown run to make it 48-13,
but Northwood replied with a touch-
down with 2:42 left to make it a 55-13
game. Smith closed out the scoring withanother ten-yard run with 1:19 remain-
ing.
Hilltop outrushed Northwood 224-
200, and held possession for more than
three minutes longer. The offense has
proven that they can indeed move the
ball. It is simply a matter of consistency
in moving the ball, while preventing the
opposition from doing the same.
Quinn Smith finished the night with
12 of 26 passing for 89 yards, a touch-
down and a pick. Zack VanDyke caught
a pass for 31 yards, while Brooker had
3 for 20 and a touchdown. Justin
Grapengeter caught 2 passes for 15
yards, and ran once for 3 yards. Austin
Batt reeled in 2 for 11 yards; Mikel
Burlew had a catch for 5 yards; Dallas
Timberman caught a pass for 4 yards,
and Chad Champion caught 2 for 3
yards.
David Smith ran 6 times for 110
yards and 2 touchdowns to lead Hilltop.
Miklo Abner gained 66 yards on 14
tries; Champion went 6 times for 35
yards, and Quinn Smith ran 11 times
for 10 yards.
The Cadets return home on October
11, where they will find their archrivals,
the Edon Bombers, awaiting.

Archbold Blue Streaks Short OutHomecoming For The Montpelier Locos
By: Mark MercerTHE VILLAGE REPORTER
MONTPELIER - The MontpelierLocomotives held their homecoming on
October 4, hosting the Archbold BlueStreaks. The fired up Locomotives held
their own against the 13th ranked BlueStreaks early on, but Archbold outdis-tanced the under-manned Locos late
and pulled away for a 41-21 victory.Early in the first quarter, Archbold
opened up the scoring on a 66 yard
touchdown strike on their opening pos-session, connecting on the extra point
and taking an early 7-0 lead 1:47 intothe game. The Locos answered on the
ensuing possession when QB KeeganHitzeman hooked up with Alex Zuveron a 25 yard touchdown strike and fol-
lowing the extra point by Cody Caudill, the Locos pulled even at 7-7. Archbold
immediately answered on their nextpossession, driving to the Montpelier 3
yard line before punching the ball intothe end zone, putting the Blue Streaksback on top 13-7 following the missed
extra point.The Montpelier Locomotives struck
at the 6:42 mark in the second quarteron a quarterback keeper by Hitzemanfor 5 yards. Hitzeman also plunged into
the end zone for the 2 point conversion, putting the Locomotives in the lead at
14-13. Archbold was able to drive backdown the field and punch the ball intothe end zone, going back on top of the
Locos following the successful pointafter attempt, 20-13. Archbold added
another score with 1 second remainingin the half, connecting on a 13 yard
touchdown strike to extend their lead to26-13. The PAT failed and the Locosheaded into the locker room within dis-
tance of a powerful Archbold squad.Archbold held the upset minded
Locomotives scoreless in the 3rd period. The Blue Streaks offense was able toextend their lead to 41-13, adding 2
scores on a 37 yard pass at the 6:18
mark along with a two point conver-sion, and then punching the ball in foran 8 yard run with 1:15 remaining, closing out the scoring for the period.
The Locomotives held Archboldscoreless in the 4th, while adding 7 at
the 6:24 mark on a Hitzeman scoringstrike to Caudill from 36 yards. Caudill
then kicked the extra point rounding
out the scoring on the night for
Montpelier.
For the Locomotives, quarterback
Hitzeman was 6 of 10 for the night
passing for 86 yards and 2 touch-
downs. Alex Zuver hauled in 3 passes
on the evening for 42 yards and a
touchdown averaging 14 yards a catch,
while Caudill snagged 3 balls for 44
yards and a touchdown for a 15 yard
per catch average. The Locos passed
for a total of 86 yards on the evening.
On the ground, Hitzeman led the
Locos with 17 rushing attempts for 106
yards, with 1 touchdown. Caudilladded 62 yards on 9 attempts; Nathan
Buehrer ground out 29 yards on 12
carries, Jordan Birdsall contributed 18
yards on 5 attempts, while Wyatt Beck
rounded out the Loco ground attack
with 1 carry on the evening.
Defensively for Montpelier, Birdsall
led the way with 7 tackles; Buehrer
added 4 stops and Beck stepped up for
3.5 hits. Caudill chipped in 3 stops on
the night, Zuver and Simon Wang
added 2. Nate McCord was credited
with 1.5 stops while Levi Croft and Max
Hulbert each threw in a tackle round-
ing out the defensive effort for the
Locos. Hubert also punted 5 times for
the Locomotives for 111 yards, averag-
ing 22.2 yards per punt.On the game, the Locomotives out-
gained the Blue Streaks on the ground
213-158, while Archbold held the
advantage through the air, 192 yards to
Montpeliers 86 yards. Montpelier had
12 first downs on the game and held a
slight lead in time of possession 24:36
to Archbolds 23:24. On the game the
Locos turned the ball over on 2 lost
fumbles and picked up a fumble recov-
ery on the Blue Streaks. Montpelier
played a relatively penalty free game,
being set back 1 time for 7 yards while
the Blue Streaks were flagged 7 times
for 55 yards.
The 41-21 setback to the Blue
Streaks marks the mid-way point on
the season for the Locomotives in what
is turning out to be a very tough, phys-
ical NWOAL. Following the loss,

BOWLING GREEN
For the third consecutiveyear the North Central
Eagles landed a spot in the
Division III District

first ever trip to the DivisionIII State Golf Tournament.
Unfortunately for the
Eagles the District they

Black Division Boys Race Won By MotherNature At The Fostoria Booster Invitational
The junior high races were complet-
ed, as was the high school Red Division
boys and both high school girls races.
With the Varsity boys Black Division
lining up to start at the October 5
Fostoria Booster Invitational, they were
joined at the line by an uninvited par-
ticipant...Mother Nature. The already
rain soaked course began to receiveanother dousing. As the race slogged
forward, the conditions decayed from
heavy rain to severe, pulling the plug on
the event.
The course was very wet and muddy,
which made for slower than usual
times, said Pettisville Coach, Tom
Wagner. The Fostoria course has a
rather large hill that was a sheet of
mud. I was very proud of the kids per-
formance. I think they enjoyed the mud
and rain, with the exception of the boys
Varsity Black Division when the rainwas coming down in sheets and flooding
occurred, along with lightning. I felt bad
for the boys in that race as many of
them had completed two miles already.

Napoleon Trips Up Indians 6-1
By: Bill Bray
THE VILLAGE REPORTER
The Napoleon Wildcats scored early
and often and defeated Wauseon 6-1 in
a non-league soccer matchup Thursday.
The Cats scored four timesin the rst 40 minutes and two
more times in the second half.
It was obvious that Wauseon was
missing their senior keeper Keven
Moden who was sidelined with a
concussion. Freshman Colin Ashbaugh
put forth a great effort lling in but it
fell short of having Moden in the line up.
The Indians only goal came late
in the contest as freshman Zach Fink
scored off an assist from Jacob Seiler.
Coach Scott Hoover added this
sentiment about Moden. I hope weget him back by the Bryan game. We
really missed him in there. Kevin has
been solid for us the past 2 seasons
and we needed him last night.

of the net. Katie Spieles had 13 saves
in goal for Wauseon, and Ashleigh
Allison had 9 in relief.
OG scored early off of an admit-
tedly beautiful cross so we were down
right away and werent able to really
get comfortable and put together any
cohesive movement, said Wauseon
Coach, Kelsey Newman. We struggled
at keeping possession and transition-
ing between offense and defense. We
have more injured players than healthy
ones; its making it difficult to be as
effective as we were earlier in the sea-
son.
Wauseon Lady Indians KickersChased Home By The
Lady Rockets Of Oak HarborOAK HARBOR - Its a long haul to
Oak Harbor in Ottawa County, and the
ride seems even longer when the trip
home is made after dropping a hard
fought contest. That was the situation
for the Wauseon Lady Indians on
October 3 as they were shut out by the
Lady Rockets of Oak Harbor, 3-0.
Wauseon netminder, Katie Spieles,
had more than double the saves than
her offense was able to muster in shots
on goal, 14-6.Of the setback, Wauseon Coach
Kelsey Newman said, Today we played
with a lack of energy for most of the
game. Now that were nearing the end
of what has proven to be a physical sea-
son, we have very few uninjured players
and its affecting our training and com-
petitiveness. We did create some posi-
tive opportunities, but nothing that we
were able to finish unfortunately.
Pettisville Blackbirds Blank Monclova ChristianPETTISVILLE - Monclova Christian
visited Pettisville for their second meet-
ing of the year on September 26. With
just over a minute gone Eli Greiser took
a pass from Landon Roth and beat the
keeper to put the Birds on top, and
Pettisville kept making it rain, coming
away with a 5-0 win. Greiser and Roth
both scored unassisted goals later in
the first half, and the Blackbirds led 3-0
at the break.
With under two minutes gone in the
second period Kamryn Hostetler found
Conner Wyse open in the box, and he
stroked a shot through the
pipes. Midway through the period
Wyse found paydirt again when he con-
trolled the ball near midfield, outraced
the defender and calmly placed a shot
into the back of the net.

Pettisville Swamps Lake; Moves To 11-0PETTISVILLE - The Lake Township
Flyers brought a strong team to
Pettisville for an October 1 game, add-
ing a few club players to the team that
the Birds had defeated 9-1 earlier in the
season. The additions may have helped,
but not enough to put a dent in the
Blackbirds perfect record as Pettisville
triumphed by a 5-1 count.
Sweeper Dillon King led the
defense against an early aggressive
attack, and gave the offense time to put
together an attack of their own. Eli
Greiser got the scoring started, pushing
a pass from Garrett Young into the goal
in the fourth minute. Over the next six
minutes the Birds found the back of the
net two more times, as Landon Roth
scored off a pass from Detric Yoder, and
Yoder battled through the middle, pounding a shot to the left of the goalie
with an assist by Greiser. In the final
minute of the half, Lakes strong left
midfielder lofted a 20-yard shot into the
far upper ninety and the half ended 3 -
1.
Justin Rupp garnered two assists in
the second half on nearly identical
plays. In the 15th minute he placed a
cross from the right side which Roth
directed into the goal from 12 yards out.
Five minutes later Yoder was on the
receiving end, and one-touched the ball
out of the air for a beautiful goal. Goalie
Zach Morrison and the defense held
Lake scoreless in the second half, and
the Birds coasted to the victory.
Pettisville Takes Emmanuel Christian Version 3.0PETTISVILLE - Some things never
change...they stay the way they are. ~
Neil Young
The Emmanuel Christian Warriors
and the Pettisville Blackbirds matched
up for the third time this season on
October 3. This final meeting ended
similar to the first two, with the
Blackbirds winning...and winning big.
Pettisville swept the three game season
series on this day by whitewashing the
Warriors, 10-2.
Detric Yoder started the first half
scoring for the Blackbirds with two
goals in a one minute span. Eli Greiser
scored three times and Landon Roth
once to put the Birds up 6-0 at halftime.
With 13 minutes gone in the second
half, Peyton Miller battled his way up
the right wing and placed a nice pass to
Dillon King, who calmly placed a shot
past the keeper. Five minutes later,
Kamryn Hostetler scored an unassisted
goal, and Justin Rupp finished up the
scoring with two goals in the final seven
minutes. Emmanuel did score twice in
the final period, far too little and far too
late to prevent the Birds from notching
their 12th victory of the undefeated sea-
son.
