Kargil Martyrs who gallantly laid

1999 Kargil conflict with Pakistan. To
mark the 'Kargil Vijay Diwas', a
solemn function was organized at the
Kargil War Martyrs Memorial at
Tagore Govt. College of Education,
Port Blair here this morning. The Lt
Governor laid a wreath at the
Memorial. He also had a glimpse of
the pictorial exhibition on Kargil War
Heroes displayed at the Memorial site.

Fugitive Economic
offenders Bill, 2018 with
the Rajya Sabha approving
it yesterday. The bill
empowers the government
to attach properties of
fugitives who run away
from the country after
committing tax and loan
related offences. Replying
to a debate on the bill in
Rajya Sabha, Finance
Minister Shri Piyush Goyal
said, the Bill enables
action against economic
offender committing
offences worth one
hundred crore rupees and
above. Members from
various political parties
also participated in the
discussion.
New York, July 26
A massive underground
lake has been detected for
the first time on Mars,
raising the possibility that
more water - and maybe
even life - exists there.
According to a report led
by Italian researchers in
the US journal Science, the
lake is about 20 kilometres
wide, located under a layer
of Martian ice. It is the
largest body of liquid water
ever found on the Red
Planet.
Mars is now cold, barren
and dry but used to be
warm and wet. It is believed
that the planet was home
to plenty of liquid water
and lakes at least 3.6
billion years ago. Scientists
are eager to find signs of
contemporary water
because such discoveries
are key to unlocking the

A large number of qualified
students who have cleared
the CTET examination for
teaching profession
interacted with the
Member of Parliament, Shri
Bishnu Pada Ray recently
and informed that the last
selection for the post of
teachers was held in 2016
and thereafter, the
Department of Education,
despite availability of the
vacancies under various
category of post of
teachers including the post
of PSTs, has not filled them
up. This has resulted in
barring some eligible
qualified candidates who
have cleared CTET, due to
over age.
A press release
issued from the office of
the MP says, similar
situation was faced in the
selection year of 2013, in
year 2015 and also in the
year of 2016. However, the

considering the factual
position, allowed relaxation
of age limit for 8 years
beyond the maximum age
limit of 30 years in all the
last three occasions.
In view of those
past experiences, these
deprived eligible
candidates are also
expecting similar relief from
the Administration and

of fish landing center at the
area, it was decided that the
final decision shall be taken
once the ALHW prepares a

vicinity for setting up of a
platform which can be
utilized as selling zone and a
patch of land was also
identified.
The Deputy Commissioner
assured that if the land
belongs to Revenue
Department and free from
dispute, the same will be set-
apart in favour of Port Blair

seeks to establish a
National Anti-Trafficking
Bureau to investigate
trafficking cases. It also
provides for the setting up
Lok Sabha passes Trafficking
of Persons Bill, 2018of Anti-Trafficking Units
(ATUs) at the district level
which will deal with the
investigation, prevention,
rescue, and protection of
victims and witnesses.

The Barmy Army names Kohli
as International Player of the
Year for 2017, 2018Chelmsford, England, July 26
Cricketer Virat Kohli was
presented with International
Player of the Year award for
2017 and 2018 by The Barmy
Army on Wednesday. The
Barmy Army is England's
cricket team supporter's club.
Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI), took to Twitter to
share the news with a photo of
Indian skipper holding both the
titles.
England's Barmy Army also
shared BCCI's tweet on their
official account and wished
Kohli and his team for their
series. They were thankful to
Kohli for taking the time out and
accepting the award.
Currently, the Indian team is in
Chelmsford, England to play a

urged investors to pump in
money for the development of
sports in the country.
The Sports Minister
announced that the
government is looking to launch
a project that will identify the
potential and hone the skills of
8-10 years of age in the country
and provide them
scholarships.
“At any given time there are 10
crore students in schools. We
will partner with school boards,
state governments and even
the armed forces. They will
identify and map the physical
fitness of 8-10-year-olds based
on a simple test,” Col Rathore
said at the Confederation of
Indian Industry (CII) Global
Sports Summit ‘Scorecard’.

the corporates. This is the time to

story,” he concluded.

India posted a mammoth 613
for 8 against hosts Sri Lanka in
the first innings on the second
day of the final 'Youth Test' in
Hambantota today.

NOTICE Allotment of seats to the candidates who have applied for Professional/Technical/
Non-Technical Courses at mainland institutions against the quota reserved for the
students of A&N Islands for the academic session 2018-19
It is brought to the notice of all concerned candidates of A&N Islands who have
applied for their nominations against the reserved seats in various Professional/
Technical/ Non-technical courses including Malayalee Origin and B.Ed (Bhopal), no
claims and objections have been received so far in respect of provisional merit list for
allotment of Professional/Technical/Non-Technical coursesincluding Malayalee Origin
and B.Ed (Bhopal)in response to this Admn's notice published in the Daily Telegram on
14.07.2018. Hence, the provisional merit list of all professional/ technical/ non-technical
courses including Malayalee Origin and B.Ed (Bhopal) courses may be treated as final
merit list.
The counselling/selection of eligible candidates for nomination for the under
mentioned courses will be held on 01.08.2018 at 3.00 pm in the Conference Hall of
Secretariat, Port Blair :-
1. Hotel Management - 10 seats
2. B.Sc Agriculture - 8 seats
3. B.Sc Horticulture - 5 seats
4. B.ScB.Ed - 3 seats
5. Printing Technology & Photography - 2 seats
6. B.L. Integrated - 2 seats
7. All Diploma courses - 30 seats
All the interested candidates who have applied for aforesaid courses are hereby
directed to appear in person with all educational qualification certificates/ testimonials
in original alongwith 4 (four) passport size photographs and 2 permanency certificates
for sureties and other documents in support of their category for counselling on the date,
time and venue as specified above.
No claim will be entertained or considered, in case the candidate fails to appear in
person or do not produce necessary certificates in original at the time of
counselling/selection.
Further, the counselling for the remaining courses will be conducted as soon as the
allocation of seats received from the Ministry/State Govts.
