October 2012 "Generations to come, it may be, will scarce believe that such one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth" To pay a tribute to this selfless great man Mahatma Gandhi, India has ever produced," Sanskaar Diwas" was celebrated in DPS jodhpur on 13th and 14th October 2012. The relationship between generations can be very enriching for the young and old alike. So, to strengthen the bond between the two, the grandparents and parents were invited to feel how important they are in the life of their young ones. The colours and hues of all shades came alive in the auditorium when the little toddlers showcased their mesmerizing performance and enthralled the audience with joy seeing Sanskaar Diwas their children performing with perfection. The little budding stars took the real life incidents of Bapu from the early childhood to his journey towards immortality as a real hero. How the follies of an innocent boy turned into real teachings were threaded into a perfect garland. The dignitaries Mr. Arvind bhatt and Mr. Ramesh Borana were spell bound with the enchanting performance of the participants. The principal Mr.B.S. Yadav appreciated the fabulous performance and delivered a note of thanks. The audience walked out with a perfect blend of pride and tears in their eyes. Thoughts live; they travel far .” Master Kumar Ayush from Delhi Public School, Jodhpur, an NTSE Scholar of the year 2010 and the first rank holder in the state with an International Rank of 20 in the International Mathematics Olympiad, along with two other students of different schools was selected to represent India at 17th International Astronomy Olympiad held in Gwangju, the Republic of Korea, from 16th to 24th October 2012. National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India selected this team of 3 students through a three tier selection process through first a nationwide qualifying test then an aptitude test in astronomy for selected 450 students (from nation- wide test organised by Indian Association of Physics Teachers, IAPT) and finally a three week Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC) at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai in collaboration with Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education. Students were taught Astronomy and trained for sky observation, telescope handling and data analy- sis. After intensive training and several tests during the camp, the 3 Students and The Team leader Shri Jayant Ganopadhyay, Technical Officer Regional Science Centre & Planetarium, Calicut, and Jury member Ms Rajashree S Thakur, Lecturer at Smt Parvatibai Chowgule College, Murgao, Goa were also selected to lead the Indian team. Nehru Science Centre Mumbai is the official designated organization on behalf of NCSM to coordinate the event and selection of team for International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO). It is a matter of great pride that the Indian team excelled immensely at the 17th International Astronomy Olympiad by winning three medals with Master Kumar Ayush winning a prestigious Silver Medal. The contest had three exams on theory, observation and practical. In this Olympiad there were 18 teams from 17 countries including China, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Armenia, Rus- sia, Moscow land, Serbia, Cremia, Italy, Kazakhstan etc. DPS Boy Reaches the Stars

Jigyasa Unveils the Veiled “Always aim at complete harmony of thought, word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.” With an aim to create awareness among the students about spreading peace and harmony in the world, So-cial Science Week ‘JIGYASA’ was celebrated in the premises of Delhi Public School, Jodhpur from October 30, 2012 to November 1, 2012. Various informative and entertaining programmes like skit, songs, dances and speeches, highlighting some burning issues of today, were presented, which stirred the audience to re-flect upon. The week commenced with a Poster-Making Competition for the students of classes XI and XII (Humanities), based on ‘World Peace’; and a Slogan-Writing Competition for the students of classes IX and X, based on ‘Malnutrition’ and ‘Starvation’, wherein the students presented their views about these topics with great zeal and fervour. The special morning assembly on October 31, 2012 witnessed a heart-rending skit, depicting the increasing craze of drugs and alcohol in the youth, and the various health hazards caused due to it. An informative arti-cle on ‘Global Citizen – Peace and Harmony’, presented by Keshav and Shivangi, a thought-provoking speech about the importance of Humanities as a subject and a good career option, and a beautifully recited poem on ‘Humanity and Peace’ were some other attractions of the assembly, which left the audience spell-bound.

The closing ceremony on November 1, 2012 comprised of an Inter-House Quiz on United Nations, in which the students participated whole-heartedly and enthusiastically, thus proving their worth. A short skit on ‘World Youth Festival’ and a mesmerizing dance depicting the international cultural integration received a huge round of applause from the audience. All the participants of the Week, as well as the teachers involved, were congratulated and complimented by the Principal Mr. B.S.Yadav, for their efforts towards sensitizing the present generation for curbing the men-aces of the society. He motivated the students to first bring peace and harmony within themselves by being responsible citizens, respecting others and following the codes of conduct, then only can one spread peace and harmony in one’s neighbourhood, city, country and finally the world. The celebration culminated with a vote of thanks by Mr. Pradeep Purohit, HOD, Social Science, who encour-aged the students to work hard to better their future, thus contributing in the progress of the nation.

The Dussehra festival celebration is unique in its perspective and significance. This festival was celebrated in the primary block on 23rd October2012 with vigor and enthusiasm. Ramlila was enacted by the teachers and children of Prep class depicting the scenes from Rama’s life. It showed that Lord Rama emerged victori-ous in a battle against Ravana who had abducted Sita and also the return of Rama, Laxmana and Sita to Ayodhaya after fourteen years of exile. Children were explained about the great significance of Dusshera as it celebrated the triumph of good over evil.

Live and let others live

Yes our civilization started off with the killing and hunting of animals but later we adopted various traits which truly made us civilized but today we are on the road to lose all of them. We should not forget this and live with the ideology of Live and let others live. Keeping this in mind an assembly was conducted on 19 th October 2012 by the students of class Nursery ,where these young talents enacted a skit depicting the need to save animals. These budding artists danced on the theme song ‘chain se hum ko jeene do’ giving message to the society that animals on this planet are disappearing at an alarming rate and we should do something about it.

Students of class III-A presented their assembly on 16th of October 2012 by wishing their friends on the very first day of Navaratra by explaining them why navaratras are celebrated &which 9 Goddesses are worshipped on these days. News & thought were presented. Thought encouraged them to value time. Aditya played a song on a casio on music choir of class III A presented a Bhajan in their melodious voice. Hindi poem GYAN was presented by Yojit. In end students enhance knowledge of their friends by telling them some interesting facts about Animals.
