The proposed facility is not only impressive—it’s imperative. You can help us meet the five essential goals below.

SAFETYBuilt in 1970, the E.V. Adams Band Hall is not compliant with fire codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act. A new music center will address these issues and increase space for rehearsals and meetings.

SCHOLARSHIPBy housing the Choral Activities Program in the same facility as the A&M Instrumental Program, we unify musical forces, create greater collaboration and find more ways to harmonize.

SOUNDArchitects and engineers will design soundproof spaces to allow our musical groups to rehearse simultaneously. With breathtaking rehearsal halls, we can account for the ongoing growth of our musical programs.

STORAGEThe number of instruments in our program exceeds the capacity of our current band hall fourfold. The new climate-controlled building will allow faculty, staff and students from all ensembles to stow their instruments, sheet music libraries and other belongings in a secure space on-site.

SCHEDULINGThe size and conditions of the E.V. Adams Band Hall present a significant scheduling challenge—exiting the building after rehearsal is not unlike the experience of leaving Kyle Field after a big game! Imagine the possibilities that this new facility will offer our Aggie musicians.

On a typical weekday, the E.V. Adams Band Hall buzzes with activity. The 85-piece Symphonic Winds group finishes rehearsal, while members of the Chamber Orchestra remove instruments from their cases and prepare for warm-up. Later in the week, the wind symphony will continue to refine a piece they will later take on the road, and subgroups of the nationally famous Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band will practice their gameday crowd-pleasers.

The musicians who meet at E.V. Adams Band Hall are a family, sharpening their skills together. But like many families, this one has outgrown its home.

Texas A&M University has embarked on a plan to build the new John D. White ’70 – Robert L. Walker ’58 Music Activities Center, which will join the University Bands and Choral Activities programs under one roof. This new facility will allow our musical traditions to flourish into the future. Plans for this exciting new complex include soundproof practice rooms with after-hours access, a 100-yard artificial turf practice field, ample storage and locker space, and new rehearsal halls.

When the E.V. Adams Band Hall was originally built in 1970, it was designed to accommodate about 250 band members. Almost immediately, the space was too small. Now with more than 400 members, the entire Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band is too large to fit in the rehearsal room. The new Music Activities Center would, for the first time in the history of the university, allow the 1,300 students who make up Texas A&M’s bands, choirs and orchestras a chance to rehearse in one centralized location.

Our spirit can ne’er be told

But through music, it can be heard

CREATE YOUR MUSIC LEGACYThe university has committed to funding half of the $40 million necessary to construct the Music Activities Center; the other $20 million will come from donor support through the Texas A&M Foundation. Your help will transform hopes into harmonies, allowing you to become a part of the extraordinary future this grand facility is destined to create.

Former students, corporations, Aggie families, classes and friends can include their names or the names of loved ones as a permanent part of the John D. White ’70 – Robert L. Walker ’58 Music Activities Center by funding a space, room or pillar inside or outside the building. We will recognize your gift in a tasteful architectural display that pays tribute to your commitment to Aggieland and marches onward as a lasting legacy.
