HOTEL INDUSTRY IN INDIA

There are about 1,285 approved budget hotels across the country withabout 51,000 rooms apart from guesthouses, dharamshalas anddevasthans in the unapproved sector.

Most of the five-star hotels are witnessing an average room occupancy rate of over 80%.

India’s Taj Mahal continues to figure in the Seven Wonders of the World.

To set up a 5-star deluxe hotel with 250-300 rooms will cost

approximately Rs.300 crore, excluding the land cost. As per estimatesby hospitality consultancy HVS International, around 150 hotelprojects are in the works across the country, which are likely to addaround 53,000 rooms over the next five years.

FINDINGS The service management industry (sometimes known as contract catering)

is part of the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector, represented by People 1st Sector Skills Council.

This sector also includes the following industries: gambling; hotels; pubs, barsand nightclubs; restaurants; self‐catering accommodation, holiday  centresand youth hostels; travel and tourist services; visitor attractions; andhospitality services.

It has grown over the last 20 years and, despite the current recession, ispredicted to continue to grow in the medium to long term. The sector

as a whole currently employs almost 2 million people.

RECOMMENDATIONS

 Administration should provide a questionnaire which can be developed by specialperson developing on the experiences related to same event to the worker on thecompletion on the wore task so that various basic requirement and causes of inconvenience in their operations can be listed and removed.

The process of allotment of spaces should be fair.

 Administration should continuously track the necessities of the workforce working on the site.

The water and power supply should be continuous

It is very difficult but beneficial that administration should make a store to keep

continuous supply of footing and lodging material.

To the worker’s on demand.

It is essential that they review and consider their performances on the time to time.

CONCLUSION

The hotel industry in India having a tremendous opportunity in the futurebecause of increasing trends in the tourism industry and governmentpromoting the “Incredible India” campaign and other tourism promotionmeasures.

Industry is opening gates for the foreign investment which is a good sign for

the industry 

Industry is working toward the fulfillment of the demand and supply gap.

Focus on Media Strategy.

The hotel industry in India is mix of many brand internationally establishedhotels having the scope to attract shares in the brand hotels which will help to

expand the industry and the innovations in the industry is helping the hotelsto retain the customers with them.
