following the instructions that come on the spring time cd, make four leaves and four spring time blocks. Lay the
blocks out as shown below. Trim sides marked in red using the Trimmer By George!® or Trimmer 2.0™. Trim outside edges (unmarked)1/4” from basting stitch through all layers. (Fig. 1)
Block A2 Block A1
Block B1 Block B2
Sew Blocks A1 and A2 together using a 1/4” seam allowance. Make sure the needle falls right on or next to the basting stitch.
Sew Blocks B1 and B2 together in the same manner. Press seam allowances open.
Fold and press the 2” facing strip in half lengthwise. Place facing strip to bottom front of A1 and A2 unit. Sew in place using 1/4” seam allowance. Repeat for B1 and B2 unit. (Fig. 2)
Fold facing to back to form a facing and press. Slip stitch or machine stitch in place using a blind hem stitch.
Fold backing fabric in half to form an 18” x 21” (12” x 15”) rectangle. Lay blocks in order over backing fabric, placing top 3” from fold and pin in place. The folded edge will later become a sleeve for hanging.
With polyester monofilament thread in the needle and matching thread in the bobbin, stitch in the ditch through the vertical seam allowance. Press folded edge down and using a basting stitch and regular thread, sew around entire quilt approximately 1/8” from edge. Trim backing fabric even with quilt edges.
Cut a 1/2” slit on folded edge of sleeve and press raw edges under. Slip stitch sleeve in place and sew a small running stitch to keep folded edge in place. Bind, add a cute button if desired and enjoy!
