Movement: How the character moves onto stage/into

position.

Do they:

SAUNTER, walk, JUMP, bounce,

SKIP, run, SPRINT, wobble,

SLOUCH, jog, DASH, slither,

BOUND, meander, SPRINT, plod,

STRUT, dawdle, SWAGGER?

PLUS ADVERB (describe HOW).

No-one just ‘walks’ or ‘runs’. There needs to be a description behind

it. This is usually linked to emotion. Look closely at the stage

directions or previous lines; they should give you clues.

Always give reasons: Why is a character moving in a certain way?

What does it reveal about the character in this particular section?

What has made the character move/look in this way? Why are they

there in the first place? Who are they talking to – does this give you

a reason for movement?
