Webinar Presidential Policy Directive 8 / PPD-8: National Preparedness Engagement Opportunities for Private and Non-Profit Sectors
The first edition of the National Preparedness Goal and the National Preparedness System description were completed in the fall of 2011. Now the effort will focus on creating the supporting frameworks. As part of this initiative, the PPD-8 Program Executive Office (PEO) and its partners are hosting a series of webinars to engage the private and non-profit sectors in developing the National Planning Frameworks. The focus of the March events will be on reviewing and collecting feedback on a number of products, with a particular focus on the role of the private and non-profit sectors. Each iteration of the March in-person events will follow a similar agenda, so we recommend choosing a date that works best for you.
Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. To register, please email [email protected] your name, email address, phone number, organization, and requested event dates

Screening and Electronic
Applications for PODs
Electronic technologies and devices, such as tablet computers and smart phones, are frequently used to accomplish day-to-day tasks. Many state and local Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) planners are beginning to seek ways to tap into these technologies as a way to streamline some processes that would take place at points of dispensing (PODs), such as filling in forms, screening forms, and providing information to POD visitors. Some planners have already developed applications to assist in POD operations. During this webinar, planners will share their technologies and information about field testing.
To join the Microsoft® Live Meeting, log into https://www.mymeetings.com/nc/join and enter conference number RW8182159 with audience passcode 498558. To listen to the audio portion, call 1-888-790-4503 and enter participant passcode 498558 (limited to the first 350).

Online Life Course Nutrition: Maternal and Child Health Strategies in Public Health
This course, based on the life course framework, shows nutrition and growth in early life—during pregnancy, infancy and childhood—has an impact on chronic disease in adulthood, which means that when state and local public health departments take steps to ensure the nutritional health of mothers and children, they invest in the future health of the community. It is designed to help public health leaders describe the role of maternal and child nutrition in population health and identify actions they can take to create equitable access to healthy foods and food environments. By the end of the module you will be able to use the life course framework to design effective nutrition initiatives to improve population health.
