Whatdoesthislevelofleadingofferme?

Thefirstisbodyposition.Iexpectahorsetoholdherpositioninrelationtomybody.Iliketokeephereyjustaftofmyshoulder(youmayadjustthisexactpositionasyoudeemnecessary).MyhorseshouldnotbeoutinfrontofmeleadingmeandsheshouldnotbebehindwithmeattemptingtodragherwhereIwanthertogo.Thispositionshouldbemaintainedwithnoinputfromme.

Second,isspeedcontrol.IfIchoosetowalkatabriskpacemyhorsemustadjustherpacetokeepup,evendecidetorun.WhenIchoosetoslowdown,myhorsemustslowalongwithme.ShouldIjogalongandthenstopsuddenly,soshouldmyhorse.Thirdisturning.WhenIturnawayfrommyhorsesheshouldturnwithouttheadditionofpressureontheleadropeandsheshouldspeedupasnecessarysothatshemaintainsherposition(hereyejustaftofmyshoulder).AsIturntowardherhead,evenifIjog,shemustyieldoutofmyway.

dragofftheirownersbreakingtheirhandler'sfingers,bruisinghandsandavarietyofotherunnecessaryinjuries.Lastly,teachingyourhorsetoleadwellwillteachyourhorsetoengagehermindonyoufromthetimeyou

firsttouchheratherstallorturnout.Byhavingyourhorse'sattentionimmediately,iteliminateswastedtimespenaftergroomingandsaddlingtryingtogetyourhorsesattentionbackonyou.Sonowinsteadofworkingthefirst1minutes(orlonger)oftheridetoregaincontrol,youcanhavecompletecontrolrightfromthestart.

Workingwithyourhorsebecomeseasierwhenyourhorseleadsproperly.Insteadofconstantlyredirectingyourhorseandbuildingupfrustrationyoucandootherenjoyabletasks.Youcantalkwithothersorenjoythescenandstillmaintaincompletecontrolofyourhorsewithlittletonoinputfromyou.Whenyourhorseleadswellyoualwayshaveanunoccupiedhandtopickupbrushesortackorcarryothervariousitems.Yourhorsewillholdher

Iamhalfwaythroughmyfarrierschool.Ihavelearnedsomuchalready.GeneOvnicekandhisson,Codyvnicekwereherelastweek.Geneworkedwithourclassandheldapublicclinicwhichallstudentswereabletoatteelearnedhowtoleveragetestahorsebyapplyingawedgeunderthehoofindifferentplaces.Itsagreattoolthatcveusalotofusefulinformationandprovideinsighttolamenessissuesthehorsemaybehaving.IalsohadthehontendingafilmingsessionwhereGeneOvnicekandmyinstructor,MarkPlumleeworkedtogethertocreateastepbephooftrimmingvideousingNaturalBalancetechniques.Thevideooutlinesthedifferencesbetweenasofter(woofandahard(dry)hoof,thevideospecificallyshowshowtoapplyNaturalBalancetrimmingtoahoofthatbelooahorsewhichlivesinamoist,rainyenvironment.

2009isfastcomingtoanend.IthasbeenamazingasIhawatchedthecolorsturningtoyellowandorangeinwhatseemslessthanaweek.It'stimetoslowdownjustabitan

enjoyafewcozynightsbythefire.Thegardenhasbeenprettymuchharvested.Onlyafewthingsarelefttopick.Wearenowenjoyingthebouofourharvest.Thefreezerisbrimmingfullandwe'veenjoyedthesweetsmellsofcornonthecob,greenbeans,peas,carrotsandmoreasweprepa

themforfreezing.Therewasthewonderfularomaofapplesauceandpeaccookingaswefilledthecanningjarsfulloftheripenedfruit.Ithasbeenacomfortingtimeandatimetoreflectonourmanyblessings.

Footballandsoccerhavestartedagainandweareenjoyingwatchthegrandkidsplay.Buttherearestillafewuniteventsbeforetheyearend

ThemeetinginNovemberwillbeourannualelections.ForthoseyouinterestedinrunningforPresident,VicePresident,Secretary,Treasuoroneofthefive(5)availableboardpositions,letmeknowandIwillbe

yournamegetsonthelistofnominees.Wewillhaveashortnominationperiodatthemeeting,justbeforethevotingtakesplace.BesuretoattendNovember4thmeetingtocastyourvote.Wehopetohavesomenewpeohelpingout.
