Rail Safety Days
Increasing safety levels togetherDuring the Rail Safety Days, our instruction train givesyour staff and those involved in hazard preventionevery opportunity to enhance their theoretical knowledgeand hands-on skills.
The instruction train is a classroom on wheels and can hold up to 20 participants. A specially equipped Rail Tank Car is used for demonstrating the operation and functions of the fittings – practical experience, both for filling the cars and for reacting during emergencies.
Topics covered by theoretical training and practical components:
Hazardous materials in general Training for “authorized persons” as defined by
section 6 of the Hazardous Goods Advisor Ordinance (GbV) Labeling hazardous materials transports Types of tank cars and controls and fixtures Emergency management at DB AG
One train for all your needsA Rail Tank Car to simulate leaks is used for hazard preven-tion exercises. Realistic simulators show them techniques for collecting dangerous substances, sealing leaks and tackling a host of other situations that can arise when transporting hazardous material. The training sessions make use of water instead of dangerous substances.
Nine types of simulated leaks: Local corrosion on the bottom of the tank Side crack in the tank shell Leak in the outlet valve housing Crack in the tank shell near the center pin Defective tank floor Double leak near the saddle bar Split welded seam following a side collision
A network for sharing experience An additional conference day sees the Rail Safety Days bring together companies and institutions from all of the rele-vant sectors – infrastructure managers, representatives of the chemicals industry, suppliers, government authorities and various organisations. This part of the event focuses on sharing experiences and refreshing knowledge so that par-ticipants can enhance their safety awareness when dealing with the rail transportation of hazardous material.
Conference with tailored agenda:
Presentations from all participating stakeholders Live demonstrations using the instruction train Networking at workshops and panel discussions
