Principal’s Message Dear Parents/Caregivers, It was wonderful to see so many of our families attending the Class Information and Welcome BBQ, last night. The evening certainly had a terrific feel to it. Research shows that a positive working relationship between teachers, parents and students is critical for maximum student achievement to occur. Supporting learning can be as simple as, asking your child how their day was, or what they enjoyed most about it. School Values During the beginning weeks of term, staff will be looking at constructive and creative ways for students to display our school values of RESPECT, CARING, GOOD MANNERS, FAIR PLAY and BEING SAFE. Creating a school community that continually displays these values, will ensure we have a harmonious and cohesive environment for our students. Absent from School If your child is going to be absent from school, parents and carers, need to notify the school. This can be a note to the teacher, or a phone call to the office. If your child is absent from school for 3 days and the school has not been notified, the school will make contact with the family. It is the law that you contact the school and explain any absences. P & C Meeting The first P & C Meeting for 2019 was held on Monday 18th February at 7:30pm. It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces. Congratulations to our new P & C Executive: President: Emma Denison Vice President: Trudy McElroy and Rebecca Doncon Secretary: Sarah Purtill Treasurer: Sandra Campbell I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Treasurer, Seema Shah, for the valuable support she has given our P & C over the past three years. Her enthusiasm and organisation of the P & C financials has been wonderful. School Fees At our recent P & C Meeting, it was agreed that the school fees would remain the same for 2019. $75 - 1 child $130 - 2 children $175 - 3 children or more An early bird discount is being offered to those families, who are able to pay their fees before the end of term 1 (11th April). The adjustments are as follows: $70 - 1 child $120 - 2 children $165 - 3 children or more. Please contact the office if you wish to pay your school fees by instalments. Peer Support Training All Year 5 and Year 6 students are reminded that their Peer Support Training will be held next Wednesday the 27th February. The training will be coordinated by Assistant Principal Jackie Kerry and will focus on developing skills of leadership, resilience, problem solving and positive thinking. Student Information Sheet Could all families please return the Green Student Information Sheet, including a general and media permission note ASAP. Please fill out both sides of this form. It is only necessary to complete one form per family. Swimming Carnival One of the highlights of the early weeks of the school year is the running of our School Swimming Carnival (Thursday 21st February). Our Yr 2-6 students will be attending, with all degrees of swimming abilities catered for in the various graded races and novelty events. Come along in your sporting colours and join in the atmosphere of the day. Remember to be sun safe and SLIP on a shirt, SLOP on some sunscreen and SLAP on a hat. The details of the carnival are included later in the newsletter. If you are able to assist with timekeeping on the day, please contact the front office. Enjoy your week!
