Big picture – Walkway Planning in 2 phases

• Phase I - Connect existing walkways along 117 Corridor – Short-term – Plan, design, and construct a few sections of walkway

along the 117 corridor

• Phase II - Prioritize other walkway and maintenance projects– Longer-term – Create a list of recommended projects– Plan for construction including design, maintenance, and

funding.

Phase I Status• Phase I moving along as planned– Upper Common has been taken out off the table

for Phase I construction

• Community Survey Results– 85% supportive of increased walkability

• Phase I Land Survey Results – No major obstacles to construction– A little extra expense in a few places

Status Update (con’t)• Open considerations – Snow removal

• Recent MA Supreme Court Ruling • Need clarification on Stow’s official position/intent

– Crosswalk locations• Town Hall / Town Building• Rt. 62 / 117 Intersection• Harvard Rd.• Hudson Rd

– Parking• Concur with Safety Officer recommendations• Provides safe pedestrian access to overflow parking
