General Information
Course DescriptionThe 2012 Pediatric Cardiology Review Course will be a comprehensive, state-of-the-art review of all aspects of pediatric cardiology. An all star faculty in the fields of Pediatric Cardiology, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiovascular Surgery, Heart Failure, and Critical Care, will provide in-depth lectures and case presentations. This course will cover the wide spectrum of subspecialty content important to individuals preparing for certification in Pediatric Cardiology. Mini symposia in electrophysiology, statistics & epidemiology, test taking skills, and professional development as well as workshops in cardiac anatomy, pathophysiology, echocardiography, and cardiac catheterization will provide an unparalleled interactive learning experience for all attendees. A “board format” question and answer session will be held with each lecture and again each evening to review the daily course content as well as hone the participant’s test-taking skills.
Although this course is designed to prepare the pediatric cardiology subspecialist for board certification or re-certification, it will also provide the practicing pediatric cardiologist, adult cardiologist, or primary care physician with a comprehensive review of the most up-to-date knowledge and newest scientific advances in our field.
Course Learning ObjectivesUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:• Evaluate,diagnose,andtreatthefetus,infant,child,andadultwithcongenital
heart disease• Demonstratesalientanatomicandhemodynamicfeaturesofcongenitalheart
disease utilizing two-dimensional, Doppler, transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiography
• Analyzehemodynamics,angiography,andinterventionsinthediagnosisandmanagement of patients with congenital heart disease
• InterpretECG’sandelectrophysiologystudiesininfants,children,andadultswithrhythm disorders
• Interpretthevariousphysiologicresponsestoexerciseandhowtheseresponsesare impacted in patients with congenital heart disease
• DemonstrateunderstandingoftherationalfortreatmentofthepostoperativeandcriticallyillpatientinthecardiacICUsetting
• Integratestatisticalprinciplesaccuratelyandeffectivelyinresearchstudydesign

Intended AudienceThis course is intended for recent graduates of Pediatric Cardiology subspecialty training programs preparing to take the Pediatric Cardiology Sub Board certification examination as well as the practicing pediatric cardiologist planning to re-certify for this Board examination. This course is also ideally designed for the pediatric cardiologist, adult cardiologist, or primary care practitioner who desires a comprehensive review of all aspects of pediatric cardiology.

Date and LocationThe Pediatric Cardiology Review Course will be held August 26-31, 2012. The program will be located at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel Resort located at One Ritz-Carlton Drive, Dana Point, CA 92629. The sessions will be held in the Pacific Promenade Room at the hotel.
