Overview

It enables the customer to purchase all tools necessa-ry for implementing a „management by view“ from a single source.

The core of the one-stop shop is the uniform hardware and software platform, which, thanks to its modular structure, enables the design of both independent line solutions and holistic visualisation platforms that feature control console characteristics and are integrated into the production IT system.

This means that solutions such as Pick to Light, Andon board/systems and AssemblyVision™ applications can be combined and scaled with one another as required via uniform data protocols and a unique „DisplayManagerSuite“.

The Pick to Light is a poka-yoke system based on the „Pick to Light technology“ for warehouse and production logistics and production process optimi-sation.

An Andon unit is a visualisation system for „lean production“ with the aim of guaranteeing quick and easy communication for the worker so that problems that occur can be addressed according to priority.

The AssemblyVision™ application is an interactive, visual assembly aid for individual workplaces for displaying work instructions, items lists and process deviations.

The range of services includes comprehensive con-sultation and planning so that we can work together with the customer to develop the ideal solution for the respective application.

Work stations combined with Pick to Light

This Pick to Light solution enables the implementa-tion of semi-automatic manual workplaces. The Pick-Vision individual workplace application enables process optimisation at the assembly workplace or packaging station.

The goal is to achieve the zero-error strategy in the production and logistics process.

For this reason, an ergonomic lean-production work-place tailored to the requirements of the worker is set up and combined with a PickVision system. The worker is guided via the software of the Pick to Light system.

Stand-alone line solutions and connection to a higher-level control system (e.g. PLC, database, ERP, MES, PPS, etc.) are possible.

The standard design of the work station comprises

■ Ergonomic manual workplace by means of tried-and-tested pipe racking system by G.S ACE

■ Pick to Light for process optimisation ■ Pick to Light software for parameterisation and connecting to third-party systems

Possible expansions

■ Worker guidance as assembly aid

The assembly line consists of individual workplaces that are coupled to one another.

The PickVision™-system and the digitalised worker guidance even allow inexperienced workers to carry out highly complex, interlinked production processes.

The production line consists of

■ Ergonomic workplace by means of tried-and-tested pipe racking system by G.S ACE ■ Pick to Light and Put to Light system for process optimisation ■ PickVision software for:

▪ Worker guidance ▪ Parameterisation ▪ Connection to third-party systems ▪ Plausibility testing ▪ Recording trace data ▪ Statistical evaluation

Possible expansions

■ Poka-yoke for error prevention

■ E-Kanban system ■ Large displays for process visualisation: LED dis-plays and industrial monitors

■ Remote access ■ Automated guided vehicles and Spurmeise sys-tems

At the same time, the „zero-error principle“ are at the forefront for high performance and quality.

During the production process, scanners, screwdri-vers, cameras, label printers, test systems, sensors, actuators and so on are integrated into the shelving.

The PickVision™-system software manages the third-party systems and models the process proce-dure.

Picking on assembly lines via PickVision

In this Pick to Light solution, picking modules and assembly workplaces are „married“ together. The picking area and the particular assembly workplaces are in separate locations.

The error-free coupling of picking and provision of modules to the assembly workplace is the goal of this Pick to Light application.

In this process, the picking trolley is led along the flow rack on a track. Both the picking trolley guide at-tached to the track and the flow racks are fitted with a PickVision™-system.

The track guide and the picking trolley are „married“ by data during the picking procedure.

Multiple workers can process order packages at the same time in the picking line. Individual components can be picked in series or in parallel with individual or collective acknowledgement.

At the end of the picking procedure, the worker „decouples“ the trolley from the pick-up station and pushes it to an additional picking device at the cor-responding picking place on the assembly line. After the trolley and its modules are checked and „married“ to the higher-level system, this triggers the withdrawal of the modules for the respective assembly procedure on the production line.

The production line consists of

■ Flow rack, picking trolley and assembly workplace by means of tried-and-tested pipe racking system by G.S ACE ■ Pick to Light system for process optimisation

■ Pick to Light software for: ▪ Worker guidance ▪ Parameterisation ▪ Connection to third-party systems ▪ Plausibility testing ▪ Recording trace data ▪ Statistical evaluation

Picking Cart with Pick to Light

The Pick to Light cart combines all the components of the tried-and-tested Pick to Light system in one picking trolley. Poka-yoke via Pick by Light as a mobile application.

Using the Pick to Light cart, multiple orders can be processed at the same time in a paperless and route-optimised manner.

The PickVision picking trolley can be designed in-dividually according to customer requirements (number of levels and boxes). Each drawer on the trolley is fitted with a Pick to Light display. Data is transmitted via radio.

The power is supplied via busbar or battery. For 24/7 operation, there are solutions for automatically loa-ding the trolley at certain positions during travel.

The compartments are filled with the required goods and serve as a storage/withdrawal compartment for an order.

The correct withdrawal/storage location is confirmed either by additional Pick to Light displays on the shelving and/or by scanning the article or the storage compartment.

If the article withdrawn/scanned is part of an acti-ve picking order, the light rings of the Pick to Light displays light up on the compartments of the picking

trolley in which the article is to be stored or from which the article is to be withdrawn. At the same time, the quantity required is shown on the display.

The operator confirms the storage/withdrawal using the acknowledgement button on the Pick to Light display. If all the storage compartments for this article are occupied or the withdrawal compartments for this workplace are confirmed, the employee is taken to the next withdrawal/storage location.

This enables multiple orders to be processed in a single journey in a route-optimised manner.

The standard design of the Pick to Light cart comprises

8 Optimal running process. Your WIBOND E-KANBAN-System.

E-KANBAN-System via Pick to Light

KANBAN is the Japanese word for “card” and descri-bes a method of production process management.

The E-KANBAN system is an extension of the tried-and-tested Pick to Light Poka Yoke system from WIBOND Informationssysteme GmbH, allowing usage information and supply messages to be transmitted directly to the distribution warehouse.

This process is entirely automated using state-of-the-art visualisation media, completely without aids such as the usual plug-in cards.

This eliminates not only the need to move cards from the buffer warehouse to the distribution warehouse, but also eliminates the risk of them being lost.

Industry 4.0 Data from the PickVision system sensors and barcode scanners is combined via the PickVisionServer appli-cation bus system (Service).

The data is then centrally stored, either in database or a superordinate production system. The visualisati-on of the relevant material/production data is carried out via our professional visualisation systems.

Function of the serverEach track on the supermarket shelf is equipped with an additional sensor (e.g. light sensor).

This checks (to an adjustable depth) whether a load carrier is on the shelf track at this position. Once there are no more load carriers in this position, the system sends a signal directly to the distribution warehouse (for example via a monitor).

Alternatively, employees can enter a replenishment requirement manually on the freely programmable +/-buttons on the picking display, or scan the bar-code on the parts container.

System benefitsMaterial flow planning benefits from significant sim-plification and cost-optimisation thanks to the fully automated, electronic dissemination of replenishment requirements.

Paper-based kanban cards are no longer required, and can therefore not be lost nor errors made.

The WIBOND PickVision system, in combination with the ProScreen/ProView system, provides an easily configurable, scalable information system, which thanks to its holistic structure can be quickly adapted to the dynamics of manufacturing processes in the sense of the Industry 4.0 philosophy.

9Optimal running process. Your WIBOND E-KANBAN-System.

Explanation of image In the example, a monitor displays to warehouse employees all relevant data about the replenish-ment requirement that has been triggered (shelf + item number). It is also possible to alert employees to a replenishment requirement by sounding a buz-zer (change of state at the sensor). The E-KANBAN system thus makes it possible to transmit the reple-nishment requirements of each buffer warehouse to

the distribution warehouse as quickly and simply as possible.

The filling of compartments can be monitored with the help of scanners, for example. In this case, em-ployees can be promptly alerted to filling mistakes via acoustic and/or optical signals

Industry 4.0

In companies where lean management is deployed successfully and in which production work is plan-ned and organised meticulously, there is a place for everything and everything is in its place. However, in practice, it is not uncommon for the wrong material to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, des-pite all materials, boxes, workplaces, feeder belts and so on being labelled.

As a consequence, production processes are inter-rupted or errors are made in production or assembly. Although having an effective Kanban management system in place can control the time at which a material finds itself in a specific location, this does not absolutely guarantee process reliability. The use of an AGV system can significantly increase process reliability, as the AGV is able to complete a defined process without errors and can thus be relied upon to safeguard the transportation of goods (and therefore the process itself) between different locations.

With predecessor solutions, intelligence and the assu-rance of process reliability were in human hands due to the absence of automated checks and controls to determine if the right material was in the right place at the right time. Monitoring the process is the only way to guarantee absolute process reliability.

System components

Buzzer Modul PBM EThe PBM E is controlled by a microcontroller and integrates external peripheral devices, such as buzzers, signal lights and so on. The component features a switch output that boasts 20 watts at one ampere.

Profile Input PVI M-LineThe PVI M-Line profile input component supplies power and data into a line and monitors the line. How often the line must be supplied is determined depending on the number of hardware components used. Power is supplied by means of a 24 V DC pow-er supply. Data is supplied at the beginning of the line.

A protective circuit stabilises the voltage in the line. The power supply and the data traffic of the interfaces is monitored using the two light diodes. The line end must be connected to a PVT termination unit to prevent errors on the data cable.

Profile Termination PVTThe PVT profile termination components completes the bus interface in a line.

The PVT prevents interference pulses affecting the data cables. A protective circuit also helps to stabilise the voltage in the line. The power supply at the line end is monitored via the two light diodes. Only one profile termination may be operated in a line.

Monitors

The MEI 19 D or MEI 19 DT PickVisionHost is a 19“ industrial monitor with integrated industrial PC which enables the use of the PickVisionServer, PickVision-Manager and PickVisionClient software packages. The MEI 19 D is the connection between the customer interface (e.g. database) and the „PVC“ PickVision-Controller. This creates a distinct separation in the system architecture with the advantage that no soft-ware needs to be installed on the company server. All associated „bottlenecks“ are elegantly avoided.
