LIGHTING CONTROL DESCRIPTION:

1. THE NEW RINK LIGHTING IS TO BE CONTROLLED BY A DIGITAL TIME

CLOCK, PUSH-BUTTON AND CONTACTORS AS INDICATED TO PRESET A

SHUTDOWN TIME (11:00P.M.)

2. THE RINK LIGHTING WILL BE ENERGIZED BY A PUSH-BUTTON

MOUNTED ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING. THE DIGITAL

TIMECLOCK WILL NOT ALLOW LIGHTS TO BE ENERGIZED BY

PUSHBUTTON UNLESS THE PRESET TIME IS REACHED. THE LIGHTING

WILL TURN OFF BY TIMECLOCK WHEN THE PRESET OFF TIME IS

REACHED.

3. THE RINK LIGHTING CONTACTOR - H.O.A. SWITCH LOCATED IN THE

ELECTRICAL ROOM WILL ALLOW THE USER TO BYPASS THE

1. INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE CODES AND BY-LAWS AND BE INSTALLED BY

WORKMEN SKILLED IN THAT PARTICULAR PORTION OF THE CONTRACT. DO COMPLETE INSTALLATION IN

ACCORDANCE WITH CSA C22.1-2012.

2. EXAMINE SITE AND LOCAL CONDITIONS AFFECTING WORK UNDER THIS DIVISION TO ENSURE THAT ALL WORK

CAN BE SATISFACTORILY CARRIED OUT WITHOUT CHANGES TO DRAWINGS. NO ALLOWANCES WILL BE MADE

LATER FOR ANY EXPENSE INCURRED THROUGH FAILURE TO MAKE THIS EXAMINATION. START OF WORK WILL BE

DEEMED EVIDENCE OF ACCEPTANCE OF, AND SATISFACTION WITH, EXISTING CONDITIONS.

3. PERMITS, FEES AND INSPECTION:

SUBMIT TO ELECTRICAL INSPECTION DEPARTMENT AND SUPPLY AUTHORITY NECESSARY NUMBER OF

DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR EXAMINATION AND APPROVAL PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK. PAY

WORK. PROTECT ALL EQUIPMENT FROM DAMAGE FROM ANY CAUSE.

7. SCOPE OF WORK:

PERFORM ALL WORK SHOWN ON CONTRACT DRAWINGS AND AS COVERED IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS.

8. CLEAN UP:

DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION AND UPON COMPLETION, REMOVE ALL RUBBISH AND WASTE

RESULTING FROM THIS WORK. CHECK, CLEAN AND REPAINT WHERE NECESSARY ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

AND LEAVE IN A FIRST-CLASS CONDITION. PROVIDE FOR THE DAILY REMOVAL OF ELECTRICAL WASTE AND

DEBRIS FROM THE SITE.

9. MAINTAINING SERVICES:

REINSTATE, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, ANY EXISTING CIRCUITS DISRUPTED DURING DEMOLITION OR

CONSTRUCTION NOT INTENDED TO BE REMOVED AS PART OF THIS CONTRACT. ANY EXISTING SERVICE THAT IS

TO REMAIN AND IS UNAVOIDABLY DISRUPTED DURING RENOVATION SHALL BE RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINALLY

FUNCTIONING STATE.

10. RESTORATION OF MATERIAL DAMAGE, CUTTING PATCHING AND MAKING GOOD:

COORDINATE, WITH OWNER, THE RESTORATION OF ANY BUILDING SURFACE OR INFRASTRUCTURE COMPONENT

THAT IS TO REMAIN AND IS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF DEMOLITION (OR INSTALLATION) UNDER THIS DIVISION, IN

THIS PROJECT. THESE ITEMS SHALL BE RESTORED TO PRE-EXISTING CONDITION, THIS WORK INCLUDES

SURFACE FINISHES.

11. CLIENT COORDINATION:

COORDINATE JOB START-DATE AND WORKING HOURS WITH CLIENT OR CLIENTS REPRESENTATIVE. CO-

ORDINATE ANY ANTICIPATED ELECTRICAL SERVICE(S) DOWNTIME IN ADVANCE, WITH CLIENT, OR CLIENTS

REPRESENTATIVE.

12. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:

NEW EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS TO BE CSA CERTIFIED. WHERE THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO SUPPLYING

EQUIPMENT WHICH IS NOT CSA CERTIFIED, OBTAIN SPECIAL APPROVAL FROM ELECTRICAL INSPECTION

DEPARTMENT.

13. EQUIPMENT SUBSTITUTION:

ALL EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED SHALL BE EXACTLY AS SPECIFIED HEREIN. SUBSTITUTIONS OR ALTERNATIVES TO

WHAT IS SPECIFIED WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE CLOSING OF TENDERS. SUBSTITUTION OR

ALTERNATIVES MUST BE SUBMITTED PRIOR TO TENDER CLOSING AND MUST BE APPROVED BY ENGINEER AND

OWNER. SUBSTITUTE OR EQUIVALENT EQUIPMENT MAY BE SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL BUT ONLY DURING THE

TENDER PERIOD. AFTER TENDER CLOSES, NO SUBSTITUTE OR EQUIVALENT EQUIPMENT WILL BE APPROVED.

ALL EQUIVALENCY DECISIONS MADE BY THE ENGINEER WILL BE FINAL. THE BURDEN OF PROOF OF

28. SHOP DRAWINGS:

PROVIDE SIX (6) COPIES OF SHOP DRAWINGS FOR THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT: CONTACTOR, DIGITAL

TIMECLOCK, BREAKERS, LUMINAIRE, LAMP, BALLAST, CONCRETE POLE AND ACCESSORIES ANY ADDITIONAL

EQUIPMENT AS REQUIRED BY THE ENGINEER.

29. RECORD DRAWING:

SHOW ON THE RECORD DRAWINGS THE APPROXIMATE PATH OF RACEWAYS LINKING ALL OUTLETS, JUNCTION

AND PULL BOXES: THE LOCATION OF JUNCTION AND PULL BOXES, THE NUMBER AND SIZE OF CONDUCTORS IN

ALL RACEWAYS. SHOW ON THE RISER DIAGRAMS ALL JUNCTION BOXES AND PULL BOXES AND IDENTIFY THEM

WITH RESPECT TO LOCATION IN THE BUILDING. CROSS-REFERENCE THESE BOXES BETWEEN RISERS AND

FLOOR PLANS. TURN OVER TO THE ENGINEER TWO COMPLETE SETS OF `AS-BUILT' DRAWINGS UPON

COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT AND PRIOR TO FINAL PAYMENT.

30. LOAD BALANCE:

MEASURE PHASE CURRENT TO PANELBOARDS WITH NORMAL LOADS (LIGHTING) OPERATING AT TIME OF

ACCEPTANCE. ADJUST BRANCH CIRCUIT CONNECTIONS AS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN BEST BALANCE OF CURRENT

BETWEEN PHASES AND RECORD CHANGES. SUBMIT, AT COMPLETION OF WORK, REPORT LISTING PHASE AND

NEUTRAL CURRENTS ON PANELBOARDS, OPERATING UNDER NORMAL LOAD. STATE HOUR AND DATE ON WHICH

EACH LOAD WAS MEASURED, AND VOLTAGE AT TIME OF TEST.

31. FIELD QUALITY CONTROL:

INSULATION RESISTANCE TESTING: MEGGER CIRCUITS, FEEDERS AND EQUIPMENT UP TO 250 V WITH A 500V

INSTRUMENT. CHECK RESISTANCE TO GROUND BEFORE ENERGIZING. CARRY OUT TESTS IN PRESENCE OF

ENGINEER. PROVIDE INSTRUMENTS, METERS, EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL REQUIRED TO CONDUCT TESTS

DURING AND AT CONCLUSION OF PROJECT. SUBMIT TEST RESULTS FOR ENGINEER'S REVIEW.

32. COORDINATION OF PROTECTIVE DEVICES:

ENSURE CIRCUIT PROTECTIVE DEVICES SUCH AS OVERCURRENT TRIPS, RELAYS AND FUSES ARE INSTALLED TO

REQUIRED VALUES AND SETTINGS.

33. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL:

AT CLOSE OF CONTRACT, PRIOR TO COMMISSIONING, PROVIDE A THREE-RING BINDER CONTAINING A LISTING

OF ALL MAJOR ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT IN PROJECT (AND RELEVANT CATALOGUE NUMBERS). LIST ADDRESSES

AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF SUPPLIERS. WHERE APPLICABLE, INCLUDE MANUFACTURER DRAWINGS,

SPECIFICATIONS, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS. IDENTIFY NAME OF

PROJECT AND CITY OF OTTAWA PROJECT NUMBER, IN BOLD LETTERS, ON FRONT AND SPINE OF BINDER.

34. INSTRUCT, OR PROVIDE FOR INSTRUCTION OF CLIENT OR CLIENT DESIGNATED STAFF IN THE OPERATION OF

ANY SYSTEMS NEWLY INSTALLED IN THIS PROJECT.

35. DUCTBANK INSTALLATION:

TO REMOVE SAND, EARTH AND OTHER FOREIGN MATTER: PULL A STEEL MANDREL NOT LESS THAN 300mm LONG

AND 6mm LESS THAN THE INTERNAL DIAMETER OF DUCT THROUGH EACH INDIVIDUAL DUCT, FOLLOW THIS BY A

STIFF BRISTLE BRUSH. PULL A STIFF BRISTLE BRUSH THROUGH EACH DUCT IMMEDIATELY BEFORE PULLING IN

CABLES. IN EACH EMPTY DUCT INSTALL A POLYPROPYLENE PULL ROPE CONTINUOUS THROUGHOUT, WITH 3M

OF SPARE ROPE AT EACH END. INSTALL CABLE DUCT MARKERS AS REQUIRED ABOVE FINISHED DUCTS. END OF
