Senior Camogie Championship Valley Rovers Senior Camogie team played their first
ever senior game on Monday evening last. While the
result was far from favorable, the team displayed great
heart & commitment in their first taste of Senior
championship. Playing with the wind in the first half,
Valleys started well but soon found it hard to get to
grips with Killeagh’s three cork senior players who
were commanding midfield & the full forward line &
were adding scores quickly. Two converted frees from
Susan O’Leary & a nicely taken point from Liz Bugler
brought the half time score to Valleys 0.03 Killeagh 2-
10.
Unfortunately there was no let up from Killeagh in the
second half which had Valleys under severe pressure
for the remaining 30 minutes. Gillian Harrington in
goal must be commended for an outstanding display
over the hour bringing off numerous vital saves,
including a penalty in the opening half. Two more
converted frees from Susan O’Leary brought the
fulltime score to Valley Rovers 0-05 Killeagh 4-22.
The Rovers will now face the losers of Carbery V
Ballygarvan in the next round, while Killeagh will go
forward to the Quarter finals, where they are sure to
give any team a tough challenge. Missing six of the
team that won last year’s senior B final & fielding some
players in their first game at adult level, this game was
always going to be a tough encounter but one that they
can now take encouragement from & look to build on
for their future at senior level.

July last to compete in the U17 Munster Summer 7's

The girls played 3 games on the day, each game just 7
minutes a half. They proceeded to win 2 games which
got them into the final but unfortunately they were
narrowly beaten. A great experience & well done to
all though!
