The Lord’s Supper and Prayer IntercessorsWorship at St. John includes a celebration of Holy Communion twice a month. We believe Holy Communion is a special gift of God for our benefit.

As a commitment to biblical integrity, communion is reserved for: • baptized Christians (Acts 2: 37,38)• those who recognize and confess their sins

(Prov. 28:13; 1 John 1:8)• those who believe the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is

offered under forms of bread and wine (1 Corinthians 10: 16; 1 Corinthians 11:27)

• those who accept Jesus’ words: “given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins” (Matthew 26:28)

All who share these biblical beliefs are encouraged to participate. (Non-alcoholic wine is offered in the blue section of the Communion trays for those with special needs.) Gluten-free wafers are available at any of the main floor communion stations. Please see a worship volunteer for assistance, if needed.

During the distribution of the Lord’s Supper until the end of the service, prayer intercessors are available on either side of the Sanctuary to pray with you. Please feel free to approach them at any time with your requests. St. John is seeking candidates for the following positions:

Child Caregiver Responsible for supervising children ages 2 to 13 years old in the Centered Care childcare program for St. John Lutheran School. Hours are 7:00am–8:15am Monday–Friday, typically 3–5 days a week starting January 5, 2015.

Being Generous, Building FamiliesThis season YOU captured the spirit of the genius of generosity and surpassed our goals to build up the families of Bryan Hill Elementary School, our partner in North St. Louis City. Over 2,500 toys and adult gifts were gathered. Over 60 volunteers assisted 130 moms and dads to shop for 487 children. 220 students had their first opportunity to shop for their moms, dads, grandmas, teachers and other special adults in their lives.

Sincerest thanks and Merry Christmas to YOU from the St. John Missions Team; and a few notes from the students at Bryan Hill…

“Thanks for letting me shop for my mom.” —Richard “I feel happy when my family gets gifts.” —Markia “Thanks for being so caring. It means a lot to me.” Love, Ariyah “Thank you for helping us shop for our parents!” —Alexis
