Our current Senior Pastor, Stephen Hower, recently made the decision to step out of the Senior Pastor role in July 2015. We are excited Pastor Hower will not be leaving us, but will be moving into a part-time teaching pastor and senior leader role within our ministry. His plan is to continue in that role through June 2018 at which time he will transition into retirement.

Nominations for our new Senior Pastor are being accepted through February 11, 2015. A nomination card is available at the Information Station located in the lobby of the Sanctuary during weekend services, in the lobby of the Ministry Center during the week or at stjstl.net/transition.

Throughout this process we ask you to pray for unity in our congregation and that God would clearly show us who He has planned to be our next Senior Pastor. You can find out more information about this transition at the Information Station after service or at stjstl.net/transition.

Why you need to be baptized, especially if you’re a teen or adultIn America when a baby is born, you can count on two things, a pile of hospital bills and an inquisition from Grandma on when you’re going to get the baby baptized. But baptism isn’t only for babies; it’s incredibly important in the life of teens and adults, too. Many of us grew up in families where baptism didn’t happen as babies, and maybe it feels like you missed the boat. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. If you’ve never been baptized, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Not only is baptism a declaration of your faith in Jesus but it is a means by which God brings supernatural blessings to your life. Jesus has earned a great inheritance for you; it’s time to claim it.

Want to talk about getting baptized? Set up an appointment with one of our pastors by emailing [email protected] or calling 636.779.2309.

The Lord’s Supper and Prayer IntercessorsWorship at St. John includes a celebration of Holy Communion twice a month. We believe Holy Communion is a special gift of God for our benefit.

As a commitment to biblical integrity, communion is reserved for:

• baptized Christians (Acts 2: 37,38)• those who recognize and confess their sins

(Prov. 28:13; 1 John 1:8)• those who believe the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is

offered under forms of bread and wine (1 Corinthians 10: 16; 1 Corinthians 11:27)

• those who accept Jesus’ words: “given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins” (Matthew 26:28)

All who share these biblical beliefs are encouraged to participate. (Non-alcoholic wine is offered in the blue section of the Communion trays for those with special needs.) Gluten-free wafers are available at any of the main floor communion stations. Please see a worship volunteer for assistance, if needed.

During the distribution of the Lord’s Supper until the end of the service, prayer intercessors are available on either side of the Sanctuary to pray with you. Please feel free to approach them at any time with your requests.

St. John Community Golf Team• Open to all boys and girls in grades 2-8 • Download registration forms at stjstl.net/spring-athletics.• Registration closes on February 20. • Contact Dan at [email protected] or 636.458.0713
