Stronghold Cambodia: A Vision Becomes RealitySt. John Church has been working with communities in Cambodia since 2011. As a church, God led us to partner with Cambodian Christians for the start-up of Stronghold Cambodia (SC), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower communities for positive change through Christian care and learning.

Since it’s opening in the fall of 2014, God has blessed SC to grow to care for 82 children in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 and their families. Staff and volunteers Tim and Diane Esala (members of St. John living in Cambodia) equip children and parents physically, intellectually and spiritually through four key areas of programming: student curriculum, parent curriculum, food assistance and Christian instruction.

In March 2016, Jen Shults, our Missions Director, and John Rodewald, of Mission of Christ Network, worked with all staff to form a two-year budget for SC and revamp the organization’s fundraising plans. St. John is excited to support Khmer leaders like Jesse, SC’s Executive Director, as they grow God’s Kingdom in Cambodia by serving others.

Why you need to be baptized, especially if you’re a teen or adultIn America when a baby is born, you can count on two things, a pile of hospital bills and an inquisition from grandma on when you’re going to get the baby baptized. But Baptism isn’t only for babies; it’s incredibly important in the life of teens and adults too. Many of us grew up in families where Baptism didn’t happen as babies, and maybe it feels like you missed the boat. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. If you’ve never been baptized, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Not only is Baptism a declaration of your faith in Jesus but it is a means by which God brings supernatural blessings into your life. Jesus has earned a great inheritance for you; it’s time to claim it.

Want to talk about getting baptized? Setup an appointment with one of our pastors by emailing [email protected] or calling 636.779.2343.
