We have had an exceptional July at Meridian Hills, though a mad Mother Nature gave us fits and frustrations along the way. The fourth of July celebration was a fantastic success, even in damp conditions. We brought most of the activities inside, and fireworks were launched an hour early to beat an oncoming storm. Likewise, the Timberman, our most prestigious golf event was tormented with wet conditions. Fortunately, all rounds were safely played and my congratulations to Dr. Wade Rademacher and guest Dr. John Crane from CCI on winning the tournament.

We have received all the required building permits on the golf maintenance facility which is being built between the fourth and ninth fairways. It takes a very wayward shot to get to this area, and the surrounding trees and shrubs should conceal the building from most views. This building provides a replacement to two maintenance sheds which were removed to gain additional parking spaces.

In late August you will receive a survey from Club Excellence regarding your satisfaction with Meridian Hills and each of the primary amenities offered. We use the satisfaction scores in our compensation reviews of management and where to focus attention. At the end of the survey is a list of Capital Projects and we ask for your input which are the most important to the member experience. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this important survey as it is a critical tool in planning the future of the club!

Despite the rainy July, the pool, golf and tennis were very active. The pool and swim team have seen successful seasons. Thanks to Ashley and Ed for their great work leading services and activities there. Thanks to Jim Hess and his staff of providing excellent playing conditions and allowing golf carts as much as possible. And, to Ludo and his assistants for maintaining court conditions and keeping clinics, lessons and general play on the tennis courts.

At the pool, PLEASE remember to bring towels back if you borrowed them. The larger, softer towels have been a hit! And, please help the little ones go potty regularly. The pool will remain open in September with somewhat reduced hours. After Labor Day, the pool grill will close for any hot cooked items but offer cold sandwiches, soft drinks, chips, ice cream, etc. Pool hours will be noon to 7pm, Monday through Sunday.

A Season Ending Party is scheduled for Friday, August 28th, 6pm – 10pm featuring Dave and Rae! Bring the kids; it was an awesome event in May!

Please help us by not allowing your children to play on the practice putting green. While it may seem harmless, damage can occur while the little ones are running and jumping about. Also, some children have been seen unattended at the ponds edge by #9 green. This is extremely dangerous and we want parents to keep an eye on their children, while at the club, at all times. Thank you for your help and understanding.

Lastly, a general survey is going out this month for each of you. As last years, a third party is handling this so anonymity is protected. We get the results and summary but only know who is responding if you want us to know. So please, let us know what your thoughts are on how we are doing and what improvements to the club facilities and services are important to you and your family!See you at the Club!

REMINDERAll golfing members and members using the range...

Please be mindful, while hitting balls at the practice range, when the tees are forward, it may be possible for long hitters to hit their ball beyond the net at the

end of the range. PLEASE use a club that avoids this possibility. Thank you for your help!
