It benefits Beyoncé because being signed to a company with other successful artists will help her be recognised by some of their fans. Beyoncé has been with Columbia Records for a while because before she launched her extremely successful solo career she was one third of the most successful girl group Destiny’s Child. Columbia Records was the people who signed the group and basically started the singer’s career. The trio of young girls from Houston, Texas was only together professionally from 1990-2006. In those 16 years they had 12 number 1 singles. Some of these chart toppers include; Say My Name, Bootylicious, Survivor and finally Cater 2 U. I think this would have benefited Beyoncé more than Columbia Records. I think this because she was the lead singer of the most successful girl group and having 12 number 1 singles would have helped her get her name more popular and more recognised for when she started her solo career. Indepent Woman first appeared on the 2000 adaption of the film Charlie’s Angels. This film ended up making $264.1 million in the box office. I think this would have benefited both Beyoncé and

Columbia Records. I think this because they both would have made money from this. I also think it benefited Beyoncé because that would increase her fan base, a lot of people would have seen this movie and that means a lot of people would have also heard the song. This would make people want to listen to her more of her music.

The song I have chosen to do this sheet about is Ring The Alarm. This song was the second single from Beyoncé’s second solo studio album released in 2006. The single debuted at Number 12 on the US billboard hot 100, becoming Beyoncé’s highest US debut. This would have increased Beyoncé’s fan base alongside making her and Columbia Records money.

I think just the name Beyoncé promoted the song and promotes some of her other songs as well. At the time when the single came out Beyoncé was a household names in many parts of the US and she was heading the same way in the UK. female artists who were singing songs which made it seem like they can stand up for themselves and appear demanding. As a result of this it’s what made many young girls look up to her as a role model and what makes people look up to her 9 years after the song was released. This was proved when she became number 8 in the top 20 most powerful females in music. She beat the likes of Dolly Parton, Janis Joplin and Adele.

The video for ‘Ring The Alarm’ has reached 25,795,635 views and it is still increasing. The video has also got 53,459 likes. This proves how massive Beyoncé’s fan-base is because its only 53,459 out of the 25,795,653 who have google accounts so if majority of them liked that song they would have downloaded it and maybe other songs by her. This benefits Beyoncé and the label because it is increasing her fan-base and making them both money.

Beyoncé is used to promote many things such as; H&M, Coca-Cola and L’Oréal. (Pictures from these companies from when she promoted them are show on the right). This benefits Beyoncé because it will get more people to know who she is. It will also benefit Columbia records because the more people that know who she is could mean more people buying her music which brings Columbia records more money. Other than promoting other companies Beyoncé has also used her name to promote her own stuff for example she stars in all her perfume adverts and posters as shown on the right below all of her adverts for other companies. I think this mostly benefits Beyoncé because it is extending her brand and it also is making her fan-base stronger. I think it will make her fan-base stronger because perfume is aimed at women and majority of the time fans want to be like the celebrity so buying this it will make them feel like they are one step closer to achieving this goal.

Extension of outlets

Beyoncé and her team manage various pages for her on a variety of social media. On the right are pictures of and links to those social media accounts. This benefits Beyoncé because social media is such a huge part of modern day it will make her fans feel closer to her. As a result of having these social media accounts and having so many followers she can promote things and let her fans have a glimpse into her life and how she really is. Her Instagram account has 32.2million followers on, her Facebook page has 63,082,247 likes and her twitter page has 14million followers. Looking at these followers and how often she updates the accounts it shows that Instagram and Facebook are her most used and most popular outlets.

I think Beyoncé’s best strategy is using her name for things. As a result of her being in the industry since 1990 she has developed a name for herself in the music, film, and fashion world. This was shown due to her success in her latest album. Her fifth studio album had no build up and was put on sale at midnight.
