At the age of 21, I left California to assist in a church plant in Newport News, Virginia. While in Virginia, I met my wife Christy, and we were married in June of 1997. Christy and I returned to California in 1998 to begin my undergraduate studies at Southern California Seminary (formally called Southern California Bible College and Seminary) where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies with an emphasis in Pastoral Ministry in 2001. A short time later, Christy and I moved to Dallas, Texas where I currently attend Dallas Theological Seminary and will receive my Master of Theology (Th.M.) with an emphasis in Systematic Theology in May of 2007. The Lord has blessed us with one son, Micah Kainoa Torres, who celebrated his first birthday in March 2006.

A Shepherding heart- The pastor shepherds the flock of God, leads them in the truths of God's word, protects them from false teaching, and leads them in paths of righteousness. The pastor mimics the Lord Jesus Christ as he watches over the flock that God has entrusted into his care.

A passion for God's Word-The Word of God is the foundation upon which ministry is built. Through the teaching of the Word of God, life change occurs and the body of Christ is equipped for their works of ministry.

A commitment to Christian Growth- As the church responds to the teaching and preaching of God's Word, the body grows both individually and corporately. I am committed to the spiritual growth of the body of Christ through discipleship, evangelism, service, and the teaching of God's Word.

A love for God's people- My ministry convictions will only occur in and through the love of Christ. Without the love of Christ flowing through me, I am nothing. The church must operate in the love of Christ as we serve one another. Without love we are a clanging symbol, an annoyance to the Body. If I do not love the Bride of Christ I cannot serve the body of Christ effectively.
